Very proud to be supporting the great work being done at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. The digital front door and virtual waiting room has not only saved vital clinical hours but has also made the waiting room safer for patients. Over the past few months our NHS England Streaming & Redirection team have been working with East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust and Strata Health UK to develop a case study evidencing the impact the digital front door has had on the trusts performance and patient/staff experience. The booked appointment model means patients with lower acuity conditions are able to wait in a place of comfort until their appointment. Patients complete a clinical assessment and receive a booked appointment in as little as 5-minutes using the NHS England digital product and Strata Health UK's booking software via a Booking and Referral Standard (BaRS) referral. This model and digital assessment has led to a reduction in the average time spent in the department per patient, less patients in the waiting room and improved 4-hour performance. Great work. Streaming and Redirection - in principle - has enormous potential at lots of health and care front doors - better customer service, more efficient and better clinical outcomes. Hard work - but worth thinking about how this can be replicated? Most health and care front doors are under pressure and there are massive opportunities.
