The LPP and compression facilities will be located within ADNOC Gas’ Habshan 5 plant, part of one of the world’s largest integrated gas processing complexes. The five plants of the #HabshanComplex have a combined capacity to process 6.1 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day. UAE’s ADNOC Gas said on Thursday it had awarded three contracts worth about $2.1bn for an LNG pre-conditioning plant (LPP), compression facilities and transmission pipelines to supply feedstock to the Ruwais LNG Project. The Ruwais LNG plant will more than double ADNOC’s current 6 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) LNG capacity to over 15 mtpa, leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and other innovative technologies to enhance safety, minimise emissions and drive efficiency. The contracts were awarded to a consortium consisting of Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries (ENPPI) and Petrojet ($1.24bn for the LPP), China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Company ($514m for transmission pipelines) and Petrofac Emirates ($335m for the development of new compression facilities). A $1.24bn contract for the LNG pre-conditioning plant was awarded to a consortium consisting of ENPPI & PETROJET. Saudi Arabia is making significant strides in the oil and gas sector, with several new projects underway. One of the most notable projects is the *Jafurah Shale Gas Project*, which is expected to make Saudi Arabia one of the top gas producers globally by 2030 ¹. This project has already seen investments of over $25 billion, with 16 contracts worth $12.4 billion awarded for construction of gas compression facilities, pipelines, and expansion of the Jafurah Gas Plant ¹. Another significant project is the *Master Gas System Expansion*, which aims to increase Saudi Arabia's gas production by 60% over 2021 levels by the end of the decade ¹. This project involves the construction of 821 km of pipeline and upgrading of existing gas compression systems, with 15 lump-sum turnkey contracts worth about $8.8 billion awarded ¹. Additionally, Saudi Aramco has awarded contracts for the expansion of the *Fadhili Gas Plant*, which will increase its processing capacity by 1.5 Bcf/D ¹. The company also plans to invest over $100 billion in the Jafurah project over its life cycle, with first gas expected by 2025 and a sustainable sales gas rate of 2 Bcf/D by 2030 ¹. Other notable projects in Saudi Arabia include the *Khurais Megaproject*, which aims to increase Saudi Arabia's export capacity from 11.3 to 12.5 million bpd ², and the *Haradh oil and natural gas facility*, which is expected to boost Saudi natural gas production capacity by roughly 25% ³. These projects demonstrate Saudi Arabia's commitment to expanding its oil and gas sector, with a focus on increasing gas production to meet rising demand and support the Kingdom's transition towards a lower-emission power grid ¹.
