Energy Transfer has finalized its $3.25 billion acquisition of WTG Midstream, enhancing its operations in the Permian Basin. The transaction involved $2.27 billion in cash and 50.8 million common units. WTG's assets include a 9,656 km pipeline network, eight gas processing plants with a capacity of 1.3 billion cubic feet per day, and a 20% interest in the BANGL Pipeline. The acquisition is expected to add significant distributable cash flow per common unit, improving Energy Transfer's revenue and infrastructure capabilities. https://lnkd.in/giWwDzF9

As a pipeline integrity engineer, I'm passionate about ensuring the safety and reliability of pipeline infrastructure. Today, let's delve into the world of Pipeline Integrity Management Systems (PIMS) and why they are crucial for the integrity of our pipelines. 🔍 What is PIMS? Pipeline Integrity Management Systems (PIMS) are comprehensive frameworks designed to safeguard the integrity of pipelines. Think of it as a proactive approach to identify, assess, and mitigate potential threats to pipeline integrity, ensuring safe and reliable operations. 🌟 Why PIMS Matters: PIMS not only enhances safety but also minimizes environmental impact, optimizes asset performance, and fosters trust among stakeholders. By proactively managing pipeline integrity, we ensure the longevity and reliability of our critical infrastructure. 💡 Some of the Key Components of PIMS: Policy & Objectives Management & Organization Regulations & Legal Requirements Assurance Processes at Various Stages of Pipeline Life Cycle Operations, Maintenance and Inspection Strategies Interfaces & Stakeholders Risk Assessment Audits and Controls Competencies and Training Emergency Response & Emergency Repair Various Databases, Document Controls and Integration 🚀 Stay Tuned: In future posts, we'll explore different facets of pipeline integrity as well as the elements comprising PIMS, offering insights and showcasing best practices with real-world examples where possible. Let's continue to prioritize pipeline safety and integrity together! Let's keep the conversation going! Share your thoughts and experiences with PIMS in the comments below.

🔍 Exploring the Role of Pipeline Integrity Software: Insights from Our Recent Poll 📊 The poll results very strongly suggest (as was my expectation) that the acquisition of pipeline integrity software alone is insufficient to replace the need for a comprehensive PIMS (Pipeline Integrity Management System). However, this was not the case few years back, where numerous times during PIMS audits, we realized that there is lack of right understanding of PIMS and a huge misconception that acquiring a software tool is solution to all the pipeline integrity issues. Thanks to the pipeline integrity/management experts who have time and again reinforced and worked towards creating right understanding and awareness of PIMS. While pipeline integrity software may offer valuable tools and functionalities for monitoring and managing pipeline integrity, it does not encompass all the components and features necessary for a comprehensive management system. Also, considering software as a primary solution for pipeline integrity management may also lead to diminishing the significance of other equally important components of PIMS framework and pipeline life cycle. In summary, PIMS provides a broader and cohesive framework for managing all aspects of pipeline integrity and ensures that organizations have the necessary tools (integrity and risk assessment and other applications) along with processes in place to effectively manage the integrity of their pipeline assets. Thank you all for participating in the survey and Brian Kerrigan for providing your insights. For various elements encompassing a comprehensive PIMS framework see https://lnkd.in/eNhf69dj

Ian is correct that operational readiness is integral to the success of a project and needs to be considered through a systems engineering and project life cycle approach. Too often, projects which appear successful in that initial budgets and timelines are met, cannot meet nameplate output or operations and maintenance is far more costly than expected. Timeous consideration of operational readiness can surely help in avoiding these pitfalls. Ian thank you for an insightful and thought provoking post.

Good poits for discussion Jalpan, What are my thoughts Jalpan.Correct me if it required any change. Writing for healthy discussion 1. For taking consideration of redundancy if the equipment is critical based upon Safety or Production, it remains critical though it has redundancy, as redundancy is designed to ensure the output is constant. 2.Generally criticality shall be decided based upon the effect of equipment failure on the system. But suppose the effect of equipment failure on System is not financial but it's major on Safety related for that particular equipment,We can keep that equipment critical though it's system is non critical. 3.There is a perticular equation to decide change over frequency based upon system availability and equipment failure probably in RCM3 book we can use. 4.Unmitigated risk/ bad actor is a separate issue, Equipment may or may not be critical based upon ACA.we can address unmitigated risk by separate design change. No any relation for defining equipment criticality and unmitigated risk. 5.Regulatory procedure is adhered to follow, we have to follow all which is stated from the regulatory procedure, additionally we can add some task based upon risk based approach but can't exclude a single from Regulatory. #AssetCriticalityAssesmet #AssetPermormanceManagemet #APM
I am getting this fundamental question on the Intent of conducting of 'Asset Criticality Analysis (aka ACA)' from many folks within the team & network. It looks easy in the first instance, but believe me, based on my 16 years in Asset Performance Management & conducting multiple workshops within Oil & Gas industry, it's not that easy 🤨 Major confusion I came across while facilitating the workshops: - The clarity of redundancy within the system and the whole plant e.g. having standby availability at specific pump system against having standby availability of lube oil pump within super critical system such as RGC / WGC. - Considering the criticality on an individual equipment or at the entire system level. - What is the role of 'Change Over Frequency' when we talk about the Probability & Consequences of Failure within a redundant system? - The clarity of Unmitigated Risk. should we consider the maintenance in place or not at all? - Sometimes, the bad actors misdirect the entire discussion while defining the critical equipment. As it eats more time & effort of maintenance & operation resource. - What about those assets which do have a compliance issue of doing Preventive Maintenance due to regulatory procedure? Thoughts 🤔 Of course, I have mine 🧰
