Message from YWAM KOHA NZ Mercy Vessel. 27 June 2024. Dear all. I hope that this message finds you well. I speak on behalf of the entire YWAM Ships team when I say we are so thankful for your support and the support of everyone who is with us on the aspirational journey.  Four years ago when we set our sights to empower a healthy future for the Pacific, we had no idea how that was going to be realised. In all honesty, we had very little at that point other than a 48-metre ship. But looking back over three and a half years of fruitfulness and impact, we are all stunned by what almighty God has done. Thousands and thousands of people have been helped and had their hope restored. The stories of real impact in people's lives continue to bring us to tears.   But we couldn't have achieved any of this without an amazing team of partners and supporters who have stood with us. Thank you.   As I expressed in my last message, we are in the final countdown until we send the YWAM KOHA off again to serve in the maritime regions of Fiji. And again, we find ourselves in a place that has us praying for miracles.  We still need to fill a couple of key mariner roles for the delivery sail to Fiji, specifically; a 2nd engineer (MECH 2 level or above) and an officer.   On Monday this week, we launched a video on social media asking for the final $100,000 needed to fund the deployment of the YWAM KOHA. I have great news to report, through the generosity of some of our support team, we only need $80,000 now. We are very aware that times are not easy for many. Trust me, as unpaid volunteers the cost-of-living crisis is very obvious to us. But we believe we need to continue to move forwards with this aspirational mission. Would you join us? Weekend Report: Felixstowe Coast Patrol and Rescue Another busy weekend for the Felixstowe Coast Patrol and Rescue team as we responded to critical situations on the water, ensuring the safety of those in need. Here’s a summary of our activities: Saturday Key Events: We responded to a mayday call from a vessel with a crew member having breathing difficulties. Despite very challenging conditions, we reached the yacht within 10 minutes. Due to the conditions and proximity to Harwich, it was deemed best not to transfer the casualty to our lifeboat, Last Orders, so along with Harwich Haven Authority we shadowed them to Ha’penny Pier, then proceeded to provide medical attention until we could hand over to the ambulance service. We're happy to report that the casualty started to feel better while we were with them, and we wish them a speedy recovery. Sunday Key Events: We assisted a yacht that had experienced engine failure. Our team arrived on the scene, secured a towline, and safely navigated the vessel into Suffolk Yacht Harbour ensuring both the crew and yacht were brought back without further incident.
