Earth Day is one week away! 🌎 We want to highlight some Ekos users going above and beyond in their brewery's sustainability efforts. First on the list is Denver Beer Co.! "At Denver Beer Co we believe in the importance of environmental stewardship. We have one planet and we believe it is our corporate and social responsibility to help conserve and protect our resources. As part of our commitment to Colorado, we implement sustainability measures to ensure a greener future for our communities and our state. Our Canworks production facility is run on 100% solar power and each can and keg is produced with 100% clean energy. Our roof contains a 258 kW solar array which powers our entire production facility with clean energy captured during our 300 days of Colorado sunshine. Our sales team cruises around town in EVs that are powered by the solar panels on the Canworks' roof. Each member of the sales team is estimated to drive 11,500 miles per year and are proud to do so in our fleet of EVs. Denver Beer Co was also one of the first small-scale brewers to implement Earthly Lab’s innovative carbon dioxide capture technology which captures and stores excess carbon dioxide produced during the beer fermentation process for reuse. Each year Denver Beer Co will capture over 100,000 lbs of carbon dioxide with this technology to be recycled and reused by other industries, ensuring it is not emitted into the environment. Finally, DBC is a proud recipient of The Environmental Leadership Program (ELP) Award. ELP is a statewide program that recognizes and awards organizations in Colorado that go beyond compliance with environmental regulations by advancing sustainability in Colorado. The goal is to support organizations in Colorado in increasing the efficiency and sustainability of their operations." 💧 Pressure on water resources is gaining momentum. To make beer 🍺, you need a lot of water. And you need good water. The availability and quality of the water will increasingly dictate where beer will be produced. For some breweries this is already a reality, and for others a consideration in their near to short-term planning. Maria Lindmark shares more about the steps you can take to 🌎 climate proof your brewery. At Bonduelle, we’re on a mission to make vegetables more available, affordable and accessible. But how do we ensure a fair price for both farmers and consumers? 🚜🍽️ The answer is quite simple: by working with trusted partners. That's our strength at Bonduelle. 🔎So, what exactly does that mean? 👉We work mostly directly with 2,080 partner farmers, generally grouped into producer organizations or cooperatives. 👉Farmers are independent. Bonduelle accounts for 20% of their revenue on average. 👉Prices are negotiated months in advance, so that farmers know the price before sowing. 👉And beyond prices, we discuss innovation and environmental preservation! The result: last year, 88% of partner farmers renew their contract with us — a testament to the strong and balanced relationship we’ve built together 🤝 At Bonduelle, we protect and foster this bond of trust every day so we can continue offering high-quality vegetables at fair prices, for everyone, everywhere. I enjoyed an interesting discussion panel last night with the B Corp collection of brands from drinks agency Glass Half Full including Nc'nean Distillery Maison Mirabeau l B Corp™ Everleaf Drinks | B Corp Two Drifters Distillery Sapling Spirits Double Dutch Drinks | B Corp Quarter | B Corp. Two key things stood out to me. 1) Significant change can only come through government regulation, the amazing work being done by these challenger brands doesn't really move the needle and better environmental practices need to be adopted by the whole industry and that will only come through regulation. 2) A quote from Annabel Thomas that the right choices for the business regarding environmental decisions have proved to be the right choice for the company. Two examples given were powering the distillery using biomass from sustainably harvested trees sourced near the distillery (given the huge increase in power costs over recent years) and insisting on using 100% recyclable glass as consumers love the distinctive bottle style. I learnt a bit about regenerative farming, carbon offsetting vs insetting and it is encouraging to see that the environmental benefits these companies are creating are helping to drive their growing and successful businesses. Thank you Glass Half Full for the opportunity. Looking forward to working with some of these brands on our B-Corp bar this summer with Dover Yard this summer.

Working with Great Basin Brewing Co. has been an incredible experience as they redefine sustainable dining with their closed-loop food system. This innovative approach repurposes spent grain from their award-winning beers as nutritious feed for cattle, which are then processed locally to deliver premium-quality beef with minimal waste. It’s a game-changer for Nevada agriculture and the ranch-to-table movement, and we’re proud to support a team so committed to quality, sustainability, and transparency.
