On the invitation of the President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) earlier this afternoon I was honoured to attend an event which celebrated the opening of the EIB office in Malta. The office is led by Mr Lawrence Martin C. Walsh whom we warmly welcome to Malta. The President of the EIB, Ms Nadia Calviño, and Hon. Clyde Caruana, Minister for Finance, addressed the floor and unveiled a commemorative plaque marking this historic event. Ms Calviño expressed interest in the work that we are doing at PEVCA Malta and outlined the priorities that they see for Malta which are congruent with the objectives of the Association. I am also happy that the EIB will support social impact initiatives, in particular affordable housing, and this was also reiterated by Minister Caruana in his speech.
