📢 Last Thursday, PEVCA Malta had the honour of welcoming Mr. Gavin Ryan, Consultant at the World Bank and private equity expert, to the Casino Maltese. With over 25 years of experience in the sector, Mr Ryan shared his extensive knowledge and insights on the importance of private equity for companies, as well as strategies to attract such investments both within and beyond Malta. The session was led by Mr George Vella, Chairman of FinanceMalta, which supported PEVCA Malta in organising this event. Mr Vella is also a Partner and Head of Advisory at Grant Thornton Malta and has over 15 years of experience in corporate and project finance, research and development, and strategic and project management. He has held various technical roles in high-profile advisory assignments, including EU funding projects and applications, as well as fundraising for the private sector. During the fireside chat, Gavin highlighted the importance of attracting international investment and creating a favourable ecosystem for businesses. He emphasised the need for an investment process tailored to the European context, while also addressing emerging markets as key opportunities for growth. With a robust background, Gavin has managed a $30 million Advent International Affiliate Fund, a $200 million fund at Soros Fund Management, and led a €2.5 billion Green Energy Asset Manager. He currently serves as Principal at Wider Europe Capital Management Ltd, specialising in private equity advisory, training, and governance. As the Academic Director of our upcoming Training Master Course, scheduled for May 2025, Gavin introduced key insights into what participants can expect, ensuring a valuable learning experience.
