📢PSA: Grant application change for the Washington State Department of Ecology📢  The 2025 - 2027 Open Application Period for Public Participation Grants is coming soon - EARLY! 👉Opens January 7 at 8:00 a.m. 👉Closes promptly at 5:00 p.m. on February 4 ❓Why the change❓ Ecology’s online grant management system is undergoing an upgrade and the entire system is expected to shut down in April 2025 - so they have to expedite the application periods. The Clean River Advisory Council created an 8-part vision for the future of the Mississippi River. The final priority outlined in the document regards funding for green initiatives and nature-based solutions. We envision a policy enviornment where available federal funding is leveraged by local governments to promote river equity and green practices. In partnership with the Walton Family Foundation and the Quad Cities Community Foundation, the C-RAC is able to directly contribute to a well-funded conservation enviornment through our grants subcommittee. In the context of developing environmental markets this year old paper is worth a re-read. If direct government money declines, do eNGOS seeking philanthropic or commercial funding pursue the public interest or the interest of funders? Is the choice made consistent with the organisation’s mission and constitution and what might it do for broader public support? Some key issues for boards I think.
