This tool is “Forecasting”. We know a concept saying that target is target. So, if you faced a gap to reach your initial forecast, you should plan for a compensatory plan. Mentioning forecasting, the following points should be considered: 1. Recruitment flow: 1 RX in January = 12 month of dispensing medication. But 1 Rx in July = 6 months only 2. Calculations are done based an average dose (if approved in different indications) 3. In some specialty products, forecasting is made on number of cases, as they’re easily countable. 4. Tender budget Capping Situations I Faced that can affect your forecast in your accounts 1. Low Storage Capacity (mainly if refrigerated medication) 2. Short Expiry 3. Competition over-Stock. 4. Accounts opening/ Closing. 5. Change in Patient flow. 6. Change in number of Advocate prescribers 7. New modifications in medication dispensation policy, which may include A. Tender winning/ Losing. B. Tender modification from being a fully covered medication to a co-payment and vice versa. C. Restrictions in your medication dispensation. D. New indication approved for your product Case for discussion: If your product is approved in a tender in September, How to forecast the next year? Considering that you can’t count Sep - Dec sales and divide them over 4 to get monthly consumption, As simply this is not the real average to use in a forecast, where your sales are supposed to be increasing incrementally.
