When we don't have formal feedback, how do we know if our message landed or not? Last week, Esther Choy and Gina Fong presented at #Kellogg's Global Women's Summit about high-stakes speeches, detailing how to share memorable leadership stories. They shared Fong's journey of being voted Lavengood Outstanding Professor of the Year, and how she prepared her highly applauded and impactful speech in only 3 weeks. So, without a formal survey or other means for feedback, how can we tell if our message landed with our audience? We can look for evidence. For example, someone teared up upon hearing Fong's convocation speech. Throughout the presentation, copious notes were taken. After the presentation, attendees approached to talk about it. There can be many signs of audience engagement, even without formal feedback.
