[Open Source Alert!] How much did drug deductibles change from CY2024 to CY2025? Ask this question to ten different people, and surprisingly, you'll get ten different answers. Some might quote big numbers, others small ones. Are they all wrong? Maybe. In my opinion, they differ in their assumptions. Yes, the devils are in the details. Over the past few days, I had the privilege of working with Anna De Paula Hanika and Tim Murray to estimate the impact of MAPD/PDP coverage area and drug deductible changes between 2024 and 2025. The landscape files and other data sources needed for the analysis were incredibly messy, so we had to make several assumptions to arrive at our final numbers. Today, we're excited to share the full script [1] that was used for the analysis behind the article published in AJMC - The American Journal of Managed Care [2]. I'm not claiming our numbers are definitively "right." However, what we can do is transparently share our assumptions and explain the limitations of our analysis. It's up to the audience to interpret the results, and by sharing this script, others can enhance the analysis and use it for future research. The script runs on the mimilabs databricks environment.
