Autoridad Portuaria Bahía de Algeciras - Port of Algeciras The Port of Algeciras is among the four most important ports in Europe and has exceeded 100 million tons of port traffic for the eighth consecutive year. In the last decade, it has moved more than 1 billion tons, and so far this year, its growth reaches 10%. The Andalusian port has direct connections to 200 ports through 142 regular services and 23 shipping companies. Traffic between Africa and Europe is close to half a million trucks with import and export goods. The Port of Algeciras doesn't sleep on the laurels. Ambitious projects are being carried out to expand their capacity and efficiency. The doors intended for plant inspection at the Border Control Post will be increased by 150%, going from 12 to 30. In addition, investments worth more than 500 million euros are being made for the next five years, of which 103 correspond to the current year. #conectivity #logistics #hub #portcomunity #comport #shipping

Some weeks ago, during the APEC meetings in Arequipa, Peru, I was asked about why the opening of the port of Chancay will be very important for Peru. This port could help Peru to improve its competitiveness, attract more shipping companies, increase competition, bring more options to export to and import from the world and give a chance to communities in the Peruvian coast, highlands and forest to boost their local economies. Hopefully, the port, together with other infrastructure projects will attract more investments to produce in Peru and create more jobs.
