Joint clinical assessment (JCA) is hoped to streamline and harmonise #HTA processes across the #EU, but how can we ensure that it is efficiently and effectively implemented at the Member State level?   CIRS brought together senior representatives from HTA agencies, pharmaceutical companies, payers and patient organisations to discuss this question as well as their readiness for the EU HTA Regulation. This was an interesting day in Seda Pharmaceutical Development Services development: Andy Burnham, the #mayor of #GreaterManchester inaugurated our new state-of- the-art high potents drug product #GMP facility, that we expect to create over 100 jobs in next couple of years, boosting the UK #lifescience sector. Andy opened the building because he his focussed on fostering an environment that allows high quality jobs for local people, regardless of social background or educational pathway. Seda Clinical Manufacturing Services (CMS) should allow us to provide these. It was rewarding to hear Andy Burnham, an ex-UK Secretary of State for Health, describing the unique ethos of Seda built on integrating #PharmaceuticalDevelopment and #ClinicalPharmacology skills in one organisation plays in bringing new drugs to the population and creating value for our clients. This is our primary focus but, for me, to also offer growth opportunities to (young) local people from all backgrounds is a great upside. Recognising that he is a similar age to Seda's leadership Team he commented that when we were younger we had to 'move away from the area' to get good jobs. Contrasting that history to the different reality now of a vibrant and growing life sciences and tech ecosystem in Greater Manchester.
