💡Did you know? You can do your doctorate with us. The scientific results that emerge from dissertations written at the Fraunhofer IMWS have repeatedly made decisive contributions to the expansion of our specialist expertise 🥼. ➡️ Our doctoral students are integrated into the institute's day-to-day research as employees. In addition, they meet once a year to exchange ideas with each other and with their supervisors at our doctoral seminar, which is a valuable format for discussing technical and methodological issues, gaining new perspectives and receiving systematic support in the doctoral process. #WeKnowFuture #ScientistsForFuture #MicrostructureDiagnostics

How can you write and present a winning scientific paper? On November 26, I had the pleasure of participating in the TDK Unwrapped workshop at Corvinus University of Budapest to discuss this question and several others. Organized by the Department of Communication and Media Science, the event aimed to guide students through the TDK (Students’ Scientific Associations Conference) process, which provides an opportunity to develop and present their thesis in an academic competition. Alongside inspiring panelists, including my colleague Alexandra Nagy-Béni, PhD and TDK winners, we shared advice and tips on the research journey and answered students’ questions to demystify this exciting academic opportunity. As a TDK supervisor, I discussed how to choose a topic, common challenges students face, and strategies for creating a winning presentation. Hearing from recent TDK winners, like Lilla Kovács and Pálma Novák, was particularly encouraging—they shared how their TDK experiences have shaped their academic and professional paths. The Q&A session offered students additional practical guidance to start their own research journeys. Thank you, Dr. Lilla Petronella Szabó and Dora Eszter Varga, for organizing this fantastic workshop. I look forward to seeing the students’ amazing scientific projects! #TDK #Corvinus #Research #University #Workshop #Science

❓Do you think four years are enough to complete a #PhD programme? ⁉️The answer is rather complex According to a quantitative research among PhD candidates from Wageningen University & Research: 📆 43% of PhD candidates do not finish before four years (delays take 3-9 months) 🚨Almost half of the candidates reported their workload as (too) high For this week’s column at Resource - WUR university magazine I delve into the different circumstances at which PhD candidates are exposed to and the implications determining a timely completion of a PhD programme. https://shorturl.at/oYrBw

Aix-Marseille Université has recently updated #publications signature charter. 🔎 Mandatory Informations for addressing publications of Institut Fresnel = "Aix Marseille Univ, CNRS, Centrale Med, Institut Fresnel, Marseille, France" ➡ Identifying the institutional source of a publication is a major issue for the institutions that supervise research units, with impact in terms of their international influence and attractiveness 🤩 . 🖋 AMU publication signature charter is fully in line with the AVIESAN 2016 charter & all the charters of its partners. 👤 Anyone affiliated to a #research unit must comply with the publication charter, regardless of their status. 🤝 Acknowledgement formulas should be used at the end of articles (or in footnotes) for publications resulting from research that has benefited from external fundings. Details of how to do this can be found in the relevant funding #agreement or #contract. 🔺 Any scientific production must be deposited in #HAL even if it has been published in an Open Access journal.
