Supporting the community through back-to-school events is vital because it strengthens the community and ensures that all students, regardless of their economic background, have the tools to succeed. These events not only provide essential school supplies but also offer emotional and support, helping students feel prepared and confident as they start the academic year. For families facing financial hardship, these programs alleviate the stress of purchasing necessary items, creating a more equitable learning environment. Back-to-school events also foster a sense of unity within the community. They bring together businesses, local organizations, schools, and families, emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility in supporting education. When the community invests in the success of its youth, it lays the foundation for a brighter future, as well-educated children grow up to be contributing members of society. Furthermore, these events can serve as outreach opportunities for nonprofits and community organizations, connecting families with additional resources and support. We help ensure that students are not only equipped for academic success but also supported holistically. Ultimately, by rallying behind these events, communities can build stronger, more inclusive networks that uplift both students and families. #InSightYFC #CommunityUnity #EducationForAll #SupportingStudents #EquityInEducation #InvestInYouth #FutureLeaders #CommunityCares #BackToSchoolReady #FamiliesAndEducation #EmpowerOurStudents #HolisticSupport #BrighterFuture #TogetherForEducation #SchoolSuppliesForSuccess

In the heart of every community lies the power of unity and support, especially for minorities striving to navigate through their unique challenges. The journey towards reaching our highest potential can often seem daunting, particularly when we feel isolated or marginalized. However, becoming part of a community that offers support and understanding can significantly alter this trajectory. Imagine walking into a room where every individual understands your struggles because they've walked in your shoes. This is not just comforting; it's empowering. It's about receiving advice from someone who has faced the same barriers but found ways to overcome them. These communities are not just about getting help; they're about giving back too. When you share your own experiences and solutions, you contribute to a cycle of mutual upliftment. Research has consistently shown that individuals from minority groups face specific hurdles that can impede their access to quality learning opportunities and personal development resources. Yet, within supportive communities, there's an exchange of invaluable resources — be it knowledge, networks, or emotional support — which levels the playing field. Personal stories abound of people finding mentors within these communities who have guided them through pivotal moments in their lives or connecting with peers who've become lifelong friends and collaborators towards common goals 🤝. One powerful instance is Maria (a pseudonym), who joined a community focused on social education for underserved populations. She discovered not only educational resources but also emotional support that propelled her from feeling stuck in her circumstances to pursuing further education and eventually landing a role she was passionate about. This narrative isn't unique but rather a testament to what's possible when we lean on each other for support 🌱. The mission at Aldaba Foundation resonates deeply with this philosophy - committing ourselves to inspire assistance and donate time towards creating awareness around such causes ✨. Let's remember: "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." – Helen Keller As we continue pushing forward the boundaries for what’s achievable through collective effort in supporting minority groups' educational pursuits 📚🌟 let us ponder: How have supportive communities impacted your journey? What lessons have you learned from these interactions? Your story could be the beacon of hope someone needs today 💖. #AldabaFoundation #Risethroughlearning #GivingBack

Giving Tuesday pro tip: here are two free, easy ways to get a bit more value out of a donation. 1. If you are making a donation because you are somehow prompted by someone in your life - maybe they work there or volunteer there, serve on the board, or have received services from them - there's almost always a place to leave a note or a dedication or say the gift is in honor of someone. List that person's name! It's easy, it doesn't cost anything, and good nonprofits will tell that person about it. I just did this today, with a gift that came in dedicated to one of our incredible campus leaders. It made me feel really good about that leader, I passed it on to her and it made her feel good, and I bet it made that donor feel good, too. And, it increases everyone's connection to the work of the organization. Free intangible benefit just by typing in someone's name. 2. If it's not because of a particular person, you can likely also list a reason you made the donation. We received a donation today that said, "UIC Fast Fund has helped my students get past financial issues that might have derailed their semester. This is a great resource for our students!" A comment like that can be super helpful to an organization in promoting their work (see how I just did that?). It only takes a minute to write that, and in addition to your donation, you've just provided some valuable content. Happy Giving Tuesday, everyone.
Bridging the gap isn’t just about filling a couple cracks—it’s about creating a stronger foundation where every student has the opportunity to succeed. 🏗️ 🏃 By providing flexible, immediate support through our FAST Funds, we help students stay focused on achieving their goals. 🗣️ By championing student voices through our Changemakers Fellowship, we empower students to lead initiatives to help their peers on campus. 🫶 And by collaborating with educators and partners to create the #RealCollege Curriculum, we're developing tools to help campuses cultivate supportive communities that empower students to thrive. As we look ahead, we know that our work is more vital than ever. To see the kinds of challenges students will face in the coming years, look no further than Project 2025 or this insightful article on how the children of undocumented parents may forgo college altogether because applying for the FAFSA could lead to deportation: https://lnkd.in/gKubAt82 We know even more hurdles are coming than we can anticipate, but as Traci Kirtley said in her Letter from the Executive Director: 💬 "The road in front of us is still one we gladly take: we will continue fighting to build a bridge between where students are and the degrees they’re pushing towards. We will continue acting when we see chances to affect institutional change. And we look forward to new partnerships and new opportunities for sustainable, lasting impact, with our students leading the way, because when they tell us what they need, we believe them. We hope you’re with us." 🎓Join us this #GivingTuesday and donate here: https://lnkd.in/gKY_XtXw #SupportStudents #EquityInEducation #HigherEd #StudentSuccess

In April, the Impact Ecosystem Collective gathered to focus on the intersection of Economic Development and Youth & Education impact. Participants toured Elpis Enterprises, a nonprofit organization that provides young people ages 16 to 23 opportunities to gain paid work experiences while gaining the skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary to secure job placement and end the cycle of homelessness. The Impact Ecosystem Collective (IEC) brings community members together to learn about local social enterprises, get connected to resources, discuss common challenges within the impact ecosystem, and identify and implement solutions. Our April insights included three Community Asks: 1️⃣ Resources or ideas related to funding sabbaticals for leaders of social enterprises 2️⃣ Commitments to source goods and services from social enterprises - or ideas to make this easier! 3️⃣ Board members of philanthropic organizations, insights or opportunities to speak with boards about unrestricted funding. What piques your interest? What solutions can you support? Follow the link to read the full report --> https://lnkd.in/g434ysm2

Today, PRI works with leaders in rural places to identify and fill in the gaps in educational, medical, and social services to support young people from cradle to career. But to get here required growth, partnership-building, and belief in the power of place-based work.
