An inspirational meeting in Madrid with Juan Cruz Cigudosa, secretary of state at the Ministry of Science and Innovation of Spain to explore Spanish universities' powerful social and economic impact. I can share that Spain will be one of the strongest performers in Times Higher Education's forthcoming Impact Rankings, which assess universities' contribution to each of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, through their teaching, research, outreach and the stewardship of their resources. Spain has over 50 universities in the ranking, published on 12 June, and has a very strong performance overall - with particular, world-leading strengths in #SDG3 (good health and well being), #SDG8 (decent work and economic growth) and #SDG16 (peace, justice and strong institutions). This will translate into some very high world rankings positions in key SDGs in next month's Impact Rankings. I am delighted that Agencia Nacional SEPIE Erasmus Estudiar en España will be joining us for the rankings launch, and much more, at the Global Sustainable Development Congress in Bangkok next month. Be sure to visit the Spanish exhibition stand at the congress to learn more and to find out how to collaborate with Spanish universities.
