Time off / time out. Easy to forget how important it is. Life lessons with my four old when picking samphire to add to tonight's dinner. 1. The best growth is found near the riskier edges. 2. An abundance mindset yields the best returns. 3. Where aren't the majority looking? A shift in perspective is what's often needed. 4. Stop posting about f'ing samphire, have a beer and start the BBQ. :) #theseaside #timeout #simplethings

"𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗲; 𝗜 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗟𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿" (seriously) Every Tuesday afternoon I look forward to heading to VOLSTEAD - a small, local craft brewery tucked into a low-key industrial unit. The beer is brewed on-site, the atmosphere is relaxed, and absolutely top-notch company. Paul, Seamus Tredinnick, and I — all working in similar roles within the medical device world and it's our chance to meet and decompress. It’s a time for storytelling, sharing the highs and lows, swapping challenges, celebrating the wins, and, of course, talking an impressive amount of codswallop (nonsense for the uninitiated). What makes it special is the balance—no quarter is given or expected. Yet, t’s one of the most supportive and relatable conversations in my week. We share the kind of camaraderie that comes from navigating similar challenges, uncertainties and self-inflicted stupidity that comes up in life. This week marked our last full catch-up for the year - Paul is off on an extended summer adventure (selfish, said some). I’m sure Seamus and I will hold the fort without him… What about you? Do you have a go-to ritual or group that keeps you grounded? I’d love to hear about the people or moments that help you reset, recharge, or just remind you why you do what you do. I'm sure there is plenty of exercise-based thoughts, but clearly I'm open to less virtuous options too. Cheers to great beer and company. 🍻 #Camaraderie #WorkLifeBalance #BeingADipSh..

😘Just a little nudge coming your way with a sprinkle of giggles. Ever heard of that wise guy Steve Jobs? He said, "The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle." So if your current gig makes you feel as passionate as a potato — keep searching! There’s a sizzle out there with your name on it, and it’s not just the steak on your dinner plate. Remember, settling is only good when it comes to a nice comfy bed or those fine particles at the bottom of your juice. For everything else, aim for the stars! Or at least for a good cup of coffee that gets you starry-eyed. Keep looking for that work-love of your life. It’s out there, probably stuck in traffic or something, but it’s on its way! Happy not settling! What keeps me motivated every day? It’s not just coffee. It’s the connection it brews. The early mornings. The stories shared over a cup. The satisfaction of crafting something meaningful. Here’s why it matters: → Coffee is more than a drink. → It’s a ritual, a moment of pause. → It brings people together. Building Kilta Coffee Co. isn’t just about sales. It’s about creating experiences. Every bean we roast connects us with farmers. Every cup served connects us with people. Long days? Sure. Challenges? Plenty. But knowing Kilta Coffee Co. adds joy to someone’s day? That’s what keeps me going. What fuels your motivation? Drop your story below. #Coffee #Connection #Motivation

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Here's a simple recipe: 1) Heat the water of acceptance and self-compassion with a little sugar of humour. Let it cool. 2) Squeeze the lemon juice by finding lessons and growth opportunities. 3) Add the water of resilience to the mix. 4) Garnish it with lemon slices of curiosity. Turn life's challenges into something refreshing and enjoy! (Innerspace)

Ever felt stuck staring at a giant decision or an overwhelming topic? You are not alone in this experience. Here’s a crucial reminder: tackling everything simultaneously is unnecessary. 🐘 Just do ONE thing towards it. Here is the best part....ask how can I make this FUN?🎉 We have a much higher chance of doing something if we make it exciting and enjoyable. This is why gooey pizza and drinking wine in a coffee mug is so good on moving day. (Or is that just me? 🙄) 🥕What carrot do you dangle for yourself to complete a task that doesn't come easy for you? Lesson for today A Lesson from Grandma: Ingredients vs. Meals The other day, I heard a heartwarming story that reminded me of a valuable life lesson. The story begins with a young man filled with energy and curiosity, opened the refrigerator and exclaims, “Grandma, there’s nothing to eat!” Grandma, with a twinkle in her eye, replied, “Oh? What about the bread, the meat, the lettuce, and the tomatoes?” At first, the young man looked puzzled. He was searching for a ready-made meal, not realizing that all the ingredients for a delicious sandwich were right there in front of him. It struck me how often we approach life in the same way—seeking immediate results without recognizing the potential around us. Key Takeaway: Sometimes, we overlook the resources we have at our disposal, focusing instead on what we lack. Just like my cousin, we might be waiting for a fully prepared meal instead of taking the initiative to create something great with what we have. Let’s remember to look for the ingredients in our lives—our skills, experiences, and opportunities—because, with a little creativity and effort, we can whip up something amazing just like Grandma Here’s to embracing the process of building, creating, and cooking up successful endeavors. #LifeLessons #Creativity #Success #GrowthMindset #Inspiration

Getting out of your comfort zone has its rewards.... Last night news quickly spread about the Aurora and there was a big buzz on my Cavehill Walking Club group chat. It was freezing last night but I wrapped up, made hot chocolate in a flask and took it up the hill to be rewarded with a beautiful sight. Most people don't go up Cavehill at night but you're actually missing out on seeing all the city lights from above! Last night we also had the aurora. although you could see some red and some white in the sky you could only really see the fine detail and green lights through a camera. What are the lessons of last night? 1. Sometimes you've got to get out of your comfort zone to receive the reward. 2. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it isn't there. 3. Take a risk. If you go up and don't see anything at least you made the effort to try. 4. Make sure you have enough milk in the fridge for a sufficient amount of hot chocolate Enjoy your weekend 🎉 #TakeRisks #GetOutOfYourComfortZone #EnjoyTheReward
