In the Philippines, there remains a significant gap in agricultural data. At PhilSEED, we recognize the crucial role data plays in guiding effective interventions and making informed decisions. From the outset of our first community initiative, our team has been intentional about data collection and validation, even as we handle these processes manually at this stage. Soon, we will launch an Integrated Farming System (IFS) to enhance implementation, monitoring, and impact evaluation. #AgriTech #Innovation #PhilSEED #Farmers #Poverty #Cacao #PhilippineCacao #ADFI #PovertyAlleviation #Resilience #SDGs #Philippines #Farming #EquitableFarming #Community #ASEAN #Agriculture #Innovation #ResilientFarming

Canals aren't the only way to capture water in Haiti. Another benefit for Haiti's regions to work together to ecologically rehabilitate her country is that crop production and water usage would be maximized through collective efforts such as terraced farming. Once Haitian communities roll out regional plans in a connected way, Haiti will rise as an ecologically whole nation and Mother Nature will take care of the rest. 🌲🌿 #reimagineagricultureinhaiti #restoreforestsinhaiti #tobuildavillageinhaiti #haiti #KPR #KPK #kpkkanal #regenerativeagriculture #terracefarming

📍 Matopo #LookandLearn Hand in Hand Zimbabwe partnered with Matopo Research Institute for an organized look and learn tour for Bulilima and Nkayi entrepreneurs in Matopo. The tour aimed at providing practical exposure to small livestock production, aquaculture farming, and fodder farming using Cactus plants on dry land. This initiative is particularly beneficial to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as it promotes the use of indigenous varieties that are well-suited to local climatic conditions and resilient to climate change. The Matopo Research Institute emphasizes the importance of indigenous breeds, which require fewer external resources, making them ideal for sustainable agricultural practices. This approach supports local farmers in adapting to environmental challenges while enhancing food security. The knowledge gained from this tour will aid in developing sustainable agricultural practices for entrepreneurs, contributing positively towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 1 (No Poverty), 2 (Zero Hunger), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), 13 (Climate Action), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Agricultural Research Development and Advisory Services (ARDAS) under the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Resettlement and Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) also participated in the event to support and reinforce the concepts

🌱 Empowering Communities Through Conservation Agriculture! 🌱 I am thrilled to share the recent workshops conducted by Foundations for Farming Zimbabwe , in partnership with My Trees Trust , in Hurungwe rural communities. These sessions focused on #conservation #agriculture practices that are essential for building #resilience, especially in the face of an El Nino induced drought in the preceding farming season. By promoting #sustainable #farming techniques, we are not only enhancing soil health but also ensuring that our farmers can adapt to unpredictable weather patterns 🌞🌦 . Farmers where enlightened 💡on the innovative #Pfumvudza/ Intwasa 4 concept which incorporates sources of 💚 starch 🌽 💚 protein 🥜 💚 oil 🌻 💚 fodder 🌿 This approach lays a critical foundation for food security, enabling communities and their livestock to thrive even in challenging conditions. Together, we are fostering a culture of sustainability and education 📝, equipping our farmers with the tools they need to secure their #livelihoods and contribute to a healthier planet. 🌍 Let’s continue to support these vital initiatives that empower our communities and protect our future! 💚 #ConservationAgriculture #FoodSecurity #Sustainability #CommunityEmpowerment #MyTreesTrust #FoundationsForFarming

WHY INTEGRATED FARMING IS SO IMPORTANT TO AFRICAN FOOD SYSTEM? The #IntegratedFarmingSystem (IFS) is a holistic farming approach specially designed for small/marginal farmers to enhance the system #productivity, #profitability, and #employment generation of their farm, ultimately ensuring their #food and nutrition security for their livelihood. The mechanism of IFS offers various ecosystem services making farms environment-friendly, sustainable, and climate-resilient. IFS is characterized by the allocation of different agricultural components systematically in a single farm performing synergistically among themselves making the farm more productive, healthy, biodiversity enriched, and eco-friendly than simplified farms. According #Rwanda 5th population Housing Census (2022), #Rwanda is made of 3,312,743 Households, of which 69% are engaged in agriculture activities (crop production or animal husbandry). 69% of Households that are engaged in agriculture, 26.8% do ONLY crop farming while 9% do Animal rearing ONLY. Guess how many households doing #integratedfarming !😎! 64.2% perform an Integrated Farming and this has a good implication to Rwanda Food system through promoting nutrient cycling, natural pest control, and diversification of income sources. Do you agree?

A study from Iowa State University tried to figure out why edge-of-field practices have been remarkably underutilized even though they can effectively reduce nutrient delivery. Saturated buffers, bioreactors, and water quality enhancement wetlands can significantly improve water quality by reducing nutrient loads while also enhancing wildlife habitat. Iowa, the same as Illinois, is reaching out to farmers and landowners as Midwestern states are trying to implement the Nutrient Reduction Strategy. Agroecology + Innovation Matters thanks the resilient producers who are putting in the needed effort to build healthier soil and protect our waterways. Please share the positive impacts of conservation agriculture. https://lnkd.in/gttPAaDf #AIMillinois #TakeAIM #conservation #illinoisagriculture #sustainablefarming #regenerativeagriculture #regenerativefarming #regenerativefarm #agvocacy #agriculture #farmer #illinois #farmersofillinois #sustainability #covercrops #soilhealth #farming #farm #agriculturelife #conservationchampions

In Uganda, widespread deforestation driven by logging, farming, and land development is severely impacting chimpanzee populations. Both the common chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) and the eastern chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes schweinfurthii) are listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List. In the Bugoma Central Forest Reserve, the chimpanzee population has declined drastically due to habitat destruction for agricultural expansion, notably sugarcane cultivation. As their natural habitats are destroyed, chimpanzees are being forced into human communities... continue reading: ➡️🔗https://bit.ly/3VnAzdi #ConservationStories #ApesStories #Chimps #SaveChimps #Chimpanzee #Endangered #KnowyourApes #ApesReportingProject
