FUNdraisers should be FUN. Corporate events don’t have to feel like a chore. Nobody wants to sit through a boring evening where the only excitement is watching the fundraising thermometer creep up. People want to experience something memorable. At the African Community Education Gala, we raised over $9M. But we didn’t do it with stale speeches or awkward silences. We brought the energy, the connection, and yes... the dance moves. As the emcee, my role is to make sure guests are entertained, engaged, and excited. Because when people have fun, they give more. We see you nonprofit people. Even though our event planning days may be behind us, we know that events play a role in fundraising and our nonprofit community. Maybe you are gearing up for your biggest gala yet... you have the committee assembled, the meetings scheduled, and all the emails about themes hitting your inbox! Before someone tries to convince you that what your event really needs to standout is a Ferris Wheel (we actually heard that one!) 😳 we wanted to share with you this podcast featuring Seth Godin and his new platform Goodbids. This platform challenges nonprofits to innovate how they fundraise at auctions and galas. Hopefully, it will inspire you to consider something new so you aren't stuck in the cycle of "the way we've always done it." It's time to think big and different, and evolve your processes!
