Several years ago, I begun working alongside start-ups of the 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 & 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 sector to help them prepare for their seed funding round.
This week, I was impressed at Eurosatory, talking to clients and partners, by
1) how much the 𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 of French the sector's start-up community has matured (some of the most impressive are featured in the post below).
2) how large organisations (businesses, national and regional governments, institutions) of this sector have found 𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 with this ecosystem of innovation.
3) how all - with much effort and some help - have learnt to manage the 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙫𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨, from operational forces to business angels, from former military turned start-uppers, from retail banks to VCs, etc.
For us, whose job is to help our small and large clients 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙤𝙧𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙖𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙗𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨, it motivates us to be even better and more effective in our engagements and to further contribute to the sustained performance of this necessary industry.

What a day at Eurosatory 2024, the Global Event for Defence and Security!
It was the opportunity to meet face-to-face with many of the start-ups we are working with in the framework of our partnership with 𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗘, the GICAT's accelerator, helping them to 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙖𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙗𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 and prepare for their seed-funding round.
The scope of activities of these start-ups is fascinating and they are all breakthroughs in their respective domain, ranging from operational language training to cyber-security, from IA for image analysis to fire detection, from visual directions to additive manufacturing, from drones to access control.
They have in common to be making tremendous technological developments that are gaining outstanding customer traction for highly demanding customers.
