Everyday I am impressed by the community leaders making our roads safer. Over the last few months we have had the joy of working with hundreds of motivated individuals, from vision zero managers to law enforcement to school employees. They spend countless weekends and nights working to prevent car crashes. SaferStreet is excited to launch another truckload of SmartSigns, our advance driver feedback sign that alerts distracted and unbelted drivers at the moment they are unsafe. It is wild to see a driver immediately put their phone down after passing our SmartSign. We are proud our technology supports the leaders that are driving change in our community. It is exciting to collect tangible behavior data that demonstrates the impact of these unsung heroes. I can't wait to share the impact of their hard work.

🚦 Supporting Chief Bailey’s Call for Safer Streets 🚦 In a recent IndyStar piece, IMPD Chief Christopher Bailey made a strong case for implementing automated traffic enforcement cameras in Indianapolis. His argument is clear: traditional traffic stops alone cannot fully address the growing issues of reckless driving, speeding, and red-light violations. To create safer streets, we need to embrace innovative solutions. I wholeheartedly support this idea. Automated cameras have the potential to deter dangerous driving behaviors and free up law enforcement to focus on other critical areas of public safety. These technologies aren’t just tools—they’re investments in the well-being of our community. But this isn’t just about technology. It’s about starting a meaningful dialogue. How do we ensure these solutions are implemented equitably and transparently? What additional measures can we take to complement this effort, such as public education or improved infrastructure? Let’s engage in this important conversation. As Indianapolis moves forward, we all have a role in shaping a safer, more secure city for everyone. What are your thoughts on this approach? I’d love to hear from you! #SaferStreets #Indianapolis #CommunitySafety #Innovation

Interesting article, but for me it leaves more questions. How does handsfree phone use differ from talking to your passengers? How less of a distraction are other things we do in vehicles (eg needing to go through a menu system in order to change the temperature)? The real consideration we should be looking into is how alert a driver is to what is going on around them (driving appropriately for the conditions) and how we change attitudes to our consideration for other road users This obviously includes distraction such as phone usage, but focusing on things that are easy to police as opposed to actually changing behaviour is not making the roads any safer.

Conspicuity refers to, "the ability of a vehicle to draw attention to its presence, even when other road users are not actively looking for it." The Federal Signal Valor is engineered to increase an emergency vehicle's conspicuity at the critical 45 degree and 90 degree angles, for a safer response. SAFER IS POSSIBLE! #TGIFS

🚗 Should We Say No to Phones on the Road? I Think Yes! 🚗 I've been reflecting on an intriguing idea presented in a Fleet News article about banning mobile phone use while driving entirely. Personally, I'm leaning in favor of this. Reducing distractions is crucial for safety, something we can all agree on, right? Here’s why I’m on board: - No Distractions: Let’s face it, even hands-free talking is a distraction. - Simpler Enforcement: It’s easier for everyone if the rules are black and white. - Clearer Focus: Driving without phone interruptions could mean a safer ride for everyone. I’d love your input: - Do you agree that a total ban could increase safety? - How do you manage distractions while you drive? - Could this work in your community, or does it sound too tough? I'm really curious to see different perspectives on this. Maybe there’s an angle I haven’t considered yet? #RoadSafety #DistractedDriving #MobileBan #SafeDriving #Let’sDiscuss Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eEgkUvpX and drop your thoughts below. 📱🚫🚘💬
