The new European Parliament, to be formed in a few days, will face critical decisions impacting Europe's competitiveness. Decarbonisation, especially in the logistics and transport sector, is essential for environmental sustainability, but it must also be economically and socially viable. To protect future generations, we need a realistic and feasible approach that encourages open dialogue and embraces technological, social, and cultural evolution. At Contship Italia we are committed to this path through innovation and dedication at every stage of our operations with our customers and partners! #intermodaltransport #supplychain #europeanparliament #decarbonisation

🌍 Today we proudly launched C-PRONE and its website! 🚀 "www.c-prone.eu" is now your gateway to circular procurement🔗 C-PRONE, the Circular Procurement Network, is coordinated by ACR+ | Association of Cities and Regions for sustainable Resource management and Rijkswaterstaat, connecting cities, regions, and initiatives across Europe. As our Secretary General francoise Bonnet highlighted in her opening speech, “C-PRONE will break down barriers to collaboration, giving public buyers a unified platform with direct access to resources, tools, and guidance on circular procurement practices". Joan Prummel (Rijkswaterstaat) then presented the initiative, followed by Paula Trindade (LNEG - Laboratorio de Energia), who offered perspectives as a core member. The launch concluded with Núria Cases i Sampere (ACR+ | Association of Cities and Regions for sustainable Resource management) guiding attendees through the platform. The event also featured an introduction to the Circular Minds Project from Emile Bruls (Rijkswaterstaat). Sustainable Road Transport Europe 2024 Earlier today, our Head of Environment Julien Le Signor, participated in Reuters Events' Sustainable Road Transport Europe 2024 in Amsterdam. During a keynote panel discussion on Smart Charging Solutions, Julien highlighted our extensive network, which includes nearly 10,000 low-emission vehicles for first and last mile deliveries. He also discussed key challenges such as limited space for on-site charger installations and the power capacity constraints at our hubs and depots. Julien ended on the need for fast, sustainable and reliable infrastructures to optimise electric vehicle charging across our network. #sustainability

No break for the committed, they say! That is why tomorrow, our managing director, Sjoerd de Jager, walks the stage of Intermodal Events because when it's about Ports' Progress Towards a More Sustainable Future, he has plenty to say. Join us tomorrow, November 12th, at 14:30 at Rotterdam Ahoy for a panel discussion that brings thought leaders like Sue Terpilowski OBE, Jordi Torrent, Pierre de BELLABRE, Martin Olverson, and Sjoerd de Jager together on stage to address infrastructure modernization, digitalization, environmental sustainability, and regulatory impacts on ports. Here are some of the topics Sjoerd will zoom into: Can green corridors genuinely reduce emissions, or are they more of a branding tool? What role does technology play in reducing Scope 3 emissions, and are there specific strategies you've seen effectively implemented in ports or logistics? How can ports balance environmental goals with economic pressures, especially when considering investments in new technologies and green infrastructure? Driving a just transition? Marc Billiet, our senior adviser for EU goods transport, spoke about meeting EU #decarbonisation targets at Green Mobility Magazine’s La Soirée event yesterday at the Press Club Brussels Europe. The question on the table: Can the mobility sector deliver a just and affordable green transition, and at what cost? Meeting the EU’s ambitious decarbonisation targets will be expensive, including for commercial road transport – both for transport operators and for public sector investments. We do need a fair and affordable green transition, because commercial road transport underpins inclusive mobility and cost-effective goods transport for everyone. And for this, we need to be technology neutral and use all available innovation. Battery electric and hydrogen technology alone will not get the job done in an affordable and timely way for all Europeans.

🌿 Embracing Standards, Collaboration, and the Drive for Carbon Emission Reduction through Port Call Optimization. Our CEO Mathew Paul is attending the Port Technology International - PTI Green Tech Conference, where we saw innovative speakers like José Andrés Giménez Maldonado from Terminal Industry Committee 4.0 - TIC4.0 and Fundación Valenciaport take center stage. José highlighted the groundbreaking work on the Paula Platform in Valencia Port, enhancing port call transparency and integrating business processes for more efficient operations 🚢. The focus on setting standards in a fragmented industry is crucial. José elaborated on how TIC4.0 collaborates with industry giants and organizations like Digital Container Shipping Association (DCSA) to pave the way for standardized data usage across the sector. This is a game-changer in how we understand and manage the complexities of port operations. There was also an insightful presentation by Kristina Jumelet from Digital Container Shipping Association (DCSA), discussing the Standards for Operational Vessel Schedules and the concept of 'Just in Time Port Calls' ⏱️. This approach not only streamlines operations but also significantly cuts down on unnecessary carbon emissions. Ani Matcharashvili from PortXchange [B-Corp], a spinoff from the Port of Rotterdam, shared their journey on port call optimization. Their platform demonstrates a powerful sequence: Standardize ➡️ Digitalize ➡️ Collaborate ➡️ Optimize. This method is setting new benchmarks in how ports can drastically enhance efficiency and sustainability 🌍. The conference is a melting pot of ideas and a clear indicator that when we unify standards and collaborate effectively, the impact on carbon reduction and port efficiency is profound and far-reaching. Let's keep pushing the boundaries of what's possible in maritime logistics! #GreenTech #PortOptimization #Sustainability #MaritimeInnovation #DigitalTransformation
