Did you know we were the first to have the UK's first fully recyclable baby food pouch? 👶 ♻️ It's alarming to think we are leaving our planet in a terrible state for future generations. Human activities are taxing the planets natural resources and generating harmful greenhouse gas emissions. As a business, we like to give our packaging another chance at being useful. By making it 100% recyclable, as well as tackling food waste & supporting our suppliers with responsible sourcing. So we made our stage 1 pouches fully recyclable, and we are continuing with a mission to roll recyclable packaging across our whole range 🙌 What we've achieved so far: ✅ Fully recyclable stage 1 pouches (UK first) ✅ Bio-based pouches (UK first to launch with 80% plant derived materials) ✅ Mono-material pouches (EU first 100% recyclable pouch) ✅ Piccolo Kids (91% range fully recyclable) #goodnessforchange #babyfood #recyclable #sustainability

36% of all plastics produced are used in packaging for food and beverages 🍫 📈Plastic is everywhere, from ready-to-eat meals to food wrappers. Increased consumption of these foods is accelerating the generation of plastic waste. With 400 million tonnes of plastic waste produced each year*, society needs to reduce its consumption of foods packaged in single use plastics and shift towards foods with sustainable or no packaging 🤔 How can food culture be used to shift society’s demand away from plastics? Food culture is an invisible force shaping our preferences and influencing the way we think and feel about certain foods. It’s a major hidden fuel behind our consumption habits, and by utilising its tools, we can drive demand for sustainable foods options. Today is world #recycling day ! 🌿♻ In the space of just two decades, the annual production of plastic waste worldwide has doubled from 180 million tonnes to more than 350 million tonnes, according to the OECD - OCDE's Global Plastics Outlook report. In Europe, 64% of packaging was recycled in 2020 (source: Eurostat). 🥫Last year, Open Food Facts tackled the question of food packaging by collecting detailed data on it (an effort supported by the French Agency for Ecological Transition, ADEME). In the space of a few months, thanks to its active community, along with several producers, packaging data of 10k+ products was collected. Researchers, producers, product designers, public authorities, start-ups are all free to reuse this open data. Several apps reuse Open Food Facts data for solutions that specifically address packaging, such as Horizon (sorting & recycling in the UK, where only 10% of plastics are actually recycled, according to Greenpeace UK). Its founders, Vickesh Solanki & Harry Bloom took part in the last two editions of the Open Food Facts Days, where they told us a bit more about their solution Horizon ! 🤳 #sorting #plastic #waste #recycle #wastemanagement #plasticwaste #opendata #openfoodfacts #opensource #uk #ecoconscious #tech #green #food #packaging #foodpackaging

As you can imagine, within a company that provides sharps and clinical waste containers, plastics and it’s recycling are huge talking points. In a perfect world, people wouldn’t be so dependent fossil fuels and their derivatives. The reality is, as a human race, we aren’t there yet. We have become used to the safety and durability of it as a material in building, food protection, transport and healthcare. #HealthCare #InfectionPrevention #recycling https://lnkd.in/eBhMCjtN

It's #EarthDay and the theme for 2024 is "Planet vs. Plastics" 🌎 One of the most obvious places to tackle sustainability in our day-to-day lives is food. Global food wastage stands at 1.3 billion tonnes annually, with Ireland alone accounting for 753,000 tonnes. A significant factor in this wastage is misinterpretation of date labels like 'best before', 'sell by', and 'use by' among consumers, particularly impacting Ready-to-Eat (RTE) products. Beyond the food wastage, the prevalent use of non-biodegradable plastic packaging poses a severe environmental threat, with these plastics being a dominant contributor to global waste. The #NationalChallengeFund project, BioFreshPack, is an innovative, biodegradable food packaging system that integrates a natural freshness indicator. Derived primarily from agricultural waste, this packaging not only promotes environmental sustainability but also offers real-time freshness checks, targeting the issue of premature disposal of Ready-to-Eat (RTE) products. Fresh milk goes with new sustainable cartons Milk & More is offering fresh milk in renewable, recyclable cartons, delivering convenience to consumers’ doorsteps. These cartons can be collected by most local authorities with kerbside recycling, covering 24 out of 31 Milk & More regional centres, facilitating their return to a dedicated recycling facility. To address regions without kerbside recycling, Milk & More offers a solution: their milkmen can collect the cartons left on doorsteps to ensure effective recycling. The cartons are made from natural brown paperboard sourced from FSC-certified forests, with linings and caps made from bio-circular materials like reused vegetable oil, making them fully recyclable and capable of being recycled up to 7 times due to the use of high-quality fibres. These new cartons preserve light-sensitive nutrients in milk, reportedly keeping it fresher for longer. What is the bases of environmental sustainability? After the ban on plastic drinking straws, the world market has tried different alternatives, but none of them have satisfied because they do not meet modern requirements and quality standards. The company "ATS AGRO TECHNOLOGIES" has decided to take some responsibility for saving the environment and presents you with our innovative solution for replacing plastic straws in your business. Our company has chosen a unique approach to grow cocktail straws from cereal crops. However, it is not obvious to everyone that sugar packets and disposable cups pollute the environment even more than plastic straws. Because they are made of paper with microplastics. We have prepared and are bringing to the global market an innovative solution for the complete replacement of environmentally harmful disposable paper cups and sugar sachets with fully biodegradable ones.
