As Halloween approaches, it’s time to think about how we can keep our workplaces safe while enjoying the festivities! Here are some occupational medicine tips to ensure a healthy and happy Halloween: Costume Caution: Encourage employees to choose costumes that are not only fun but also safe. Avoid masks that obstruct vision and ensure footwear is practical to prevent slips and trips! Decorate Safely: If you’re decorating the office, make sure to use non-flammable materials and avoid cluttering walkways. A spooky atmosphere should never come at the cost of safety! Healthy Treats: Promote healthier snack options at Halloween gatherings. Consider a “trick-or-treat” swap where employees can exchange lollies for healthier alternatives! 🍏 Mental Health Check: The holiday season can be overwhelming. Encourage open conversations about mental health and provide resources for stress management. Remember, it’s okay to ask for help!

#howloween 5 Tips to Keep Your Dog Calm on Halloween 🎃👻 Halloween is a fun night to look forward to—but for us dog parents, it’s not just about us; we have our pups to think about too. All the knocking and doorbell ringing during trick-or-treating can make for a stressful night for our dogs. But don’t worry! There are ways to keep Halloween stress-free and help our pups stay calm during the Halloween chaos. 🎃Create a Quiet Space: Set up a calm room away from the door where they can relax. A comfy bed, toys, and even some calming music are all great. 👻Exercise First: Tire your dog out before the Halloween excitement begins! A long walk or a fun play session can help them relax and hopefully settle into a nice, long nap. 🎃Reward Calm Behavior: Keep treats handy to reward your dog when they stay calm. 👻Tell Them to Sit and Stay: It’s okay if you didn’t have time to train ahead of time—especially if this is the first time you’ve thought about it, and Halloween is tomorrow! But every dog knows “sit.” Try your best to have them sit and stay as you walk toward the door. If they listen, praise their good behavior for being the best boy (or girl!) and reward them. 🎃Get Them Out of Sight: You know your pup best, and if you think all these other tips won’t work, getting them out of sight of the action is a solid plan. Consider using a baby gate to confine your pup to a smaller area where they can’t see out the windows or reach the front door. Wishing everyone a Happy & Safe Halloween Tomorrow Night!

🎃 October is Approaching: Let’s Get Spooky with Halloween Shirts! 👻 As we are about to float 🎈 into October, it’s time to embrace the spooktacular season—Halloween-themed shirts are officially encouraged (by me) for Fridays! I know, I know; I might have started the Halloween fun a little early back in July, but who could resist the charm of a cheeky ghost or a pumpkin with a personality? Here’s why it makes for a fun tradition: 1. Boost Morale: There’s something about a fun shirt that can lift spirits and brighten our workdays. Let’s kick off the weekend with some laughs! 2. Foster Creativity: Halloween attire allows everyone to express their unique style. Whether you’re into cute, creepy, or classic, let’s see those creative looks! 3. Build Connections: Spooky shirts are great conversation starters. Who doesn’t want to bond over your favourite Halloween movies or scary stories? 4. Celebrate Team Spirit: Our workplaces can easily become a vibrant patchwork of Halloween fun! I continue to try and make this happen at work with a … somewhat decent success rate (I’m lying BUT I have major hope for October!). We should all celebrate October in style and make Fridays a little more magical (and a tad more spooky). Hoping to see what everyone conjures up on my LinkedIn feed (tired of posts with people holding up whiteboards with inspirational quotes)! 🦇 Happy Halloween Season and Stay Safe 🦇 #HalloweenFun #CasualFridays #TeamSpirit #GetSpooky Also, shout out to Cakeworthy with the best Halloween drops 💅🏻

It's Random Acts of Kindness Day and we've got some ideas if you have any new parents in your life! Any and all of these would likely be welcome gestures: - drop off a warm meal (or some groceries) - empty the dishwasher (then maybe fill it!) - take the dog for a walk (they need attention, too) - fold some laundry (and swap over the next load) - listen without judgement (one of the best things is feeling heard) - tidy up the kitchen (a clean counter and swept floor can be such a gift!) #RandomActsOfKindness #KindnessMatters

Happy Halloween! Whether you’re celebrating or not, let’s make today safe and positive for everyone. For families out trick-or-treating: • Stay present: Enjoy the night together without stress or rush. • Check in: Talk with kids about what to expect, and check in often. • Safety first: Review safety plans so everyone feels secure and prepared. For those handing out candy: • Create a welcoming space: Keep the atmosphere light and friendly. • Respect boundaries: Some kids may be shy or nervous—warm smiles go a long way. • Include everyone: Offer treats for different dietary needs to make all feel welcome. And for those who aren’t celebrating, enjoy a peaceful evening in your own way. Here’s to a day that’s safe, inclusive, and uplifting for all! 🎃 #SafetyFirst #MentalHealthMatters #WellBeing #SocialWork #InclusiveCommunity #HalloweenSafety #MindfulMoments

Halloween can bring extra challenges for co-parents, but it’s all about putting the kids first and creating a fun, stress-free night. Whether you’re trick-or-treating together or celebrating separately, planning ahead is key. Agree on costumes (consider shopping together), set a schedule for the night, and most importantly, focus on making Halloween enjoyable for your little ones! 🎃 Healthy habits matter! After all the fun, make sure to help your kids wind down with a set bedtime routine—especially after the candy rush, and don't skip brushing those teeth! 🦷 How do you handle Halloween co-parenting? Just in case you need to see it… …my laundry room! Which, in all reality is a fabulous symbol of our current state of life, in The Downhill Slide season where we’re not sure what to do between Halloween and Thanksgiving, so we just do it all. Schedules are overflowing (just like our Halloween dress-up bins in the photo), and being behind is even more normal this time of year. Just look to the piles of dirty and clean clothes everywhere for affirmation. My biggest piece of advice (to myself, here and in general for this season)? Baby steps. One thing at a time. The most important things first. Give everyone extra grace & patience. What room in your house is most representative of your life right now??

🎃 Want spooktacular tips to keep your team safe? As Halloween approaches, it's time to get into the festive spirit! But let’s not forget—safety is no trick! Here are some "boo-tiful" safety tips to keep you and your loved ones safe this Halloween: Now I get it, we want to let our hair down and enjoy the spooky season but one that that you can't forget - the safety of your team. Especially as we move into the festive season - Christmas is just around the corner... So let's jump into a few things to help you stay safe but still enjoy yourself. If you are opting to allow for your team to dress up and get spooky - please avoid capes! We don't need anyone getting stuck in equipment or tripping over on the way to the kitchen. If you are hosting a Halloween gathering, please make sure you don't use decorations that are low hanging - getting clothes lined after grabbing a handful of snakes isn't ideal. And lastly, please make sure you ask for any dietaries for those yummy treats you are putting out. A tip to the hospital isn't a fun time! Let’s make this Halloween not only fun but also safe! From the team at Women In Safety, have a hauntingly good time, and remember, safety is no hocus pocus 🧙 #womeninsafety #workplacesafety #healthandsafetyindustry #leadingsafe #healthandsafetywomen #sheleadssafety #safetycommunity #womenleadersinsafety
