Pick n Pay’s Post

Exciting news!!!!! Pick n Pay and FNB have partnered to offer groundbreaking rewards for South African consumers. Starting 1 November 2024. This collaboration allows all FNB cardholders who are on eBucks earn and spend their eBucks at Pick n Pay. Customers can earn up to 30% back in eBucks for using Pick n Pay asap! and up to 20% on in-store purchases. The initiative aims to help customers save more on essentials, groceries, and clothing, enhancing their everyday shopping experience. Pick n Pay CEO Sean Summers stated that this strategic partnership is a “game-changer” for both Pick n Pay and its customers. “Joining forces with FNB - ranked as South Africa’s most valuable brand - is an absolute belief and confidence in our brand. We know how important tangible rewards are as consumers come under financial pressure. We are already seeing strong redemption rates from the 99c bread promotion, and we’re thrilled to extend more rewards to eBucks’ six million active customer base.”

Well done @Sizwe and extended team. This is a strategic move that provides significant financial relief to consumers and FNB clients. However, Pick n Pay's issues are deeply rooted in legacy business decisions. They need more than just brand confidence and value. To truly turn things around, they need a comprehensive, data-driven plan focusing on: 1. Cutting losses (closing non-profitable stores and revisiting the AG Leventis partnership in Africa) 2. Restructuring company finances and debt 3. Exploring innovative offers 4. Developing a renewed store and pricing strategy Its a long road ahead, where strong leadership and bold decisions are essential 👏

Pick n Pay will need more than this. Stores not up to standard (some foul smelling stores especially at fridges), little things like trolleys not easily accessible, vegetable packs with some options not available...and and and. It's a case of not listening to customers.

Nice but PnP is giving up some of their precious margin for this - that Boxer IPO can't come at a better time. It is one time only largess - spend it wisely Mr Summers. As Tony Soprano said - no do overs.

This is a good move, especially for Pick n Pay asap!. This could possibly bring back customers who had switched to Checkers and Checkers Sixty60 who are currently earning up to 15% back in eBucks on their purchases. Pick n Pay and FNB South Africa, please confirm if the 30% earn is applicable to all clients or just Private Clients, Private Wealth and RMB Private Banking clients - The Information tab in the banking app doesn’t mention Aspire and Premier card holders. Thanks

My 82 yr old mother-in-law last Saturday: "I wonder my PnP is still advertising? I thought they are closing down". Dunno where she got that, but she believed it.
