One of the final "holy grail" uses for automated warehouses was autonomous container unloading of trucks and containers, up until last year. New goods must be ingested by every logistics and distribution center; these goods usually arrive at the loading dock in shipping containers or trailers. Fox Robotics has announced the success of its autonomous trailer loader/unloader (ATL) which has been able to unload more than 2.5 million pallets since its introduction in 2019 The ATL is an autonomous forklift that can operate without a driver, saving labor costs, improving worker safety, increasing uptime, productivity and facilitating integration and scalability of logistics operations. It has vision sensors and LiDAR that enable it to navigate the warehouse with precision, avoid obstacles, and pick up pallets. It has a discharge capacity of more than 60 double or 30 single pallets per hour, and a battery life of 18-20 hours. Fox Robotics plans to add more capabilities to its existing product line and introduce new intelligent autonomous solutions that drive productivity, efficiency, and safety in the warehouse. 🤖 Horizontal transportation of pallets ➡ When you are thinking about a forklift mobile robot (or a forklift manual machine), it is important to take into account that the lifting system is only used for loading/unload operations. Important fact: during transportation you are paying for the lifting but you are not using it! 🔢 Therefore, if the routes you want to automate are long, then you would never use a stacker mobile robot, but: 1) A transpallet if you have to pick up the load from the ground. 2) A mouse if you are transporting a trolley and you have enough space to crawl under. 3) A platform mobile robot when you can lift at a certain height. 🎯 The most common advantages of transpallet mobile robots are: - The transportation lifting height is minimum and therefore its cost is minimum as well (compared to stacker mobile robots). - Compact footprint of the transpallet AMR + the pallet. - Minimum turning radius. ❓Do you have in mind any other advantage of using transpallets AGVs and AMRs instead of other kinds? Leave your comment below! 👇 📲 The mobile robot in the video has been developed and manufactured by AiTEN Robotics. The video has been provided by their integrator IATECC. Boost your warehouse ! Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) dynamize the logistics and warehousing industry. Thanks to their ability to move autonomously and interact with their environment, they operate effectively in several sectors. The integration of the piCOBOT® Electric vacuum gripper ensures the versatility of Mobile Robots, as it operates without compressed air. This eliminates the need for hoses, giving the cobot arm complete freedom of movement. Applications : Handling items, bin-picking, item picking, tote handling, bags handling, order fulfilment piCOBOT® Electric benefits : ✔ Fully electric : Every part of piCOBOT® Electric is completely independent of compressed-air infrastructure ✔ Lightweight : Slim design and carefully selected materials enable direct mounting on the cobot arm. ✔ Energy efficient : Remarkably low energy consumption despite superior performance. ➡️Discover our solutions for the logistics and warehousing: https://lnkd.in/eCeQn-bE #warehousing #logistics #vacuumautomation #ecommerce #distributioncenter #intralogistics #mobilerobots #cobotgrippers #AMRs #binpicking #itempicking #orderfulfilment

AMR fork trucks have typically been reserved for larger operations, such as in distribution centers, but with a range of more affordable options now available are they coming into range of small and medium-sized manufacturers (SMMs)❓ I think they are. A lot of great examples were on display at the Modex 2024 show last week. You can see a few of them in the video below. Pallet lifting AMRs – specifically the ground level ones – come in two primary form factors. ✅ The first style are similar to automated pallet jacks, or small fork trucks, but with autonomous features. These have a larger footprint but tend to have a higher carrying capacity. Some of them can also be used manually when needed, making them even more useful! The first two video clips show this style from Big Joe Forklifts and VisionNav Robotics. ✅ The second are traditional AMR’s configured to drive under the pallet, which is on an elevated stand, and lift if from underneath. These AMR’s have a relatively small footprint but are typically more limited in carrying capacity (unless you get one of the oversized models like the one from Otto). The last two video clips show this style from KUKA and OTTO by Rockwell Automation. While getting exact pricing takes some discussion, I did hear prices as low as ~$65K for at least one of these devices as the show. It's by no means inexpensive, but based on our work with SMMs I'd say they are getting close to what this audience is willing to invest. ❓ I did notice that the docking process was still quite slow for all the models at the show (hence the 4X video speed). This is something I believe will have to be improved before the technology really sees widespread adoption. #modex2024 #automation #robotics #technology
