What is a widow block? Unlike a typical splitter block that is split straight down the middle, a widow block is split across diagonally. Two lots under one title. This means that you couldn’t access the rear block unless you go through the front block. It’s said the widow block grew popular during the world wars where soldiers would split the block putting the rear block in their wives names before they left for war. It can be possible to re-align the blocks to make them into typical split blocks straight down the middle. One thing to keep in mind, even if the blocks can be re aligned this may be in vein of character or heritage overlays restrict works or demolition on any existing dwellings. #brisbanebuyersagent #property

Our last day in Svalbard was unusually magical. On a Zodiac ride to view a beautiful glacier front, we encountered a mother polar bear and her two cubs. They started out just sleeping on the tundra at the edge of a bay. We watched quietly at a great distance of over 300 meters. Eventually, Mom got up and started walking the beach. The cubs followed, eventually slipping into the frigid waters and playing with each other. I've seen polar bears dive below the water surface before, but I've never seen a cub do it, nor for the time they spent doing so. This short video is footage I compiled of that special event. On a technical note, I shot more stills than video of this episode. I desperately wanted to shoot virtually all video, but it's normally impossible to capture video footage from a boat on the water, handheld, no less. But I knew this show was made for video. My concern was due to handholding a powerful telephoto zoom, the 150-400mm. Normally you would never shoot video with such a powerful telephoto lens unless you are on solid ground with the camera and lens attached to a tripod. It's generally impossible to handhold something this powerful and still get quality footage. But thankfully I was seriously impressed with what the OM-System OM-1 Mark ll allowed me to do with that lens. Hope you enjoy the video.
