I just booked my second music composition job for a short film! I take a lot of inspiration from Hans Zimmer. I love strings, guitars, violins, etc. And building an atmosphere using sound effects & field recordings. Offer a unique combination of abilities only I can do. 1. I can write, shoot, and direct a video. 2. Take the promotional & campaign images, then 3. add atmosphere on top of the visual's inherent atmosphere through music composition & music theory. For this, I'd charge a premium as the only person I think giving this value proposition besides me would be Tim Kellner. EDEN's tour videographer/photographer combo whose also a heavy hitter within the travel industry. Music is the MOST powerful art form in today's culture. I only find its the most underused medium within the streetwear subgenre where I primarily exist. So- I'm hoping to fix that in the coming years. PLAY ALONG Sometimes composers write to the picture (when they have it), and sometimes they write music inspired by other elements of the film. You can write to the script, concept art, or even vague story ideas (how Hans wrote his Inception theme). I think it’s important for the composer to be flexible in their writing process. There is no right or wrong way.
