The Premier League Charitable Fund and the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) have today (Wednesday 27 November) launched a new partnership that will use the power of football to help reduce anti-social behaviour and foster meaningful change across England and Wales. The partnership will see the charitable arm of The Premier League working closely with the NPCC and 43 police forces to support collaborative working between professional football club charities and their local police forces. Chair of the Premier League Charitable Fund and former Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Tim Godwin OBE QPM, said: "With the Premier League's continued investment, and by joining forces with the National Police Chiefs' Council, we are addressing shared challenges such as anti-social behaviour and youth violence. "This partnership approach will encourage collective action that we hope will lead to safer, more connected communities, with football at the heart of that transformation." The Premier League Charitable Fund's partnership with the NPCC, the body that enables independent Chief Constables and their forces to work together to improve policing for the public, will support 93 professional football club charities delivering the Premier League Kicks programme to work collaboratively with police forces to benefit people in their local communities. This Christmas, Tanium are partnering with Priors Court, a local charity based in Reading who are dedicated to giving support to autistic young people with learning disabilities and complex needs. Our mission is to raise £20,000 so that Priors Court can fund a new project to build an innovative and groundbreaking performing arts centre where children can perform and learn to play new instruments. This isn’t just a new facility for Priors Court – 85% of these young people are pre-verbal, which means that an arts provision like this would enable everyone at Priors Court with a creative outlet to communicate their needs, expressions and feelings, whatever their background or ability. At G.E.A.R., we know sports teach more than skills—they teach life lessons. However, for many, Pay-to-Play fees and lack of gear stand in the way. The Detroit Pistons partnered with G.E.A.R. to make a life-changing donation to Battle Creek's Midnight League, a program offering a safe, structured environment for young adults from 8 p.m. to midnight. With only 8 jerseys and 1 basketball, this program was struggling. Thanks to the Pistons' donation, they now have the gear they need to continue their life-saving work. Recently, Battle Creek lost 3 young lives to street violence—proof that programs like this are vital. Charity Football Match To rally around those affected and provide much-needed assistance, we are organising a charity football tournament, at Marine Football Club on the 17th August 2024. This event will bring together teams from across the region in a show of unity and support. Football is more than just a game; it's a symbol of teamwork, resilience, and community spirit – exactly what Southport needs right now.
