Music Cue of the Week: A question we film composers often face is how to musically support small, incidental moments — those connective scenes of a story that give us important information at a glance. These mini-scenes need to be emotionally connected to the overall tone of the film, but are often too fleeting to warrant a big musical theme. A handy trick in these situations is to repurpose an earlier melodic idea into a more subtle, supporting form. In this selection from the score of "Secrets Beneath the Floorboards" I compressed the film’s main theme into a repeating accompaniment for chimes. Set it against some moody ambience, and voila: the perfect accompaniment for the heroine peering at a mysterious drive she’s unearthed from the (titular) floorboards. #cueoftheweek #filmmusic

if you know, you know marc andressen under the moniker @pmarca on X gets pitched for 32k and pulls the trigger. wow! that's a kodak moment. agents. and curious question which is an unknown known. what does it look like if you have many people interacting with many agents. huh? great question. and although we are curious. no one. not one person considered this as something to delve into. openly. until this happened. @deepfakes on X calls out marc of a16z vc fame. the uber egg-head. is totally into the new new thing. and is an avid X shit poster. he's there. boom. he gets called out to fund 32k towards an experiment. exploring emergent behaviour from muti-ai, multi-human interaction. you know what. yeah. yeah. yeah. i can see that we are not exploring this. and as a project it is meaningful as eventually this will be something we do. consider many different agents and the question to ask is what is their underlying behaviour. which way do they slant. this was a moment where X appeared as we have heard many times. it's the town square. and in this case serendipity. it'll be cool to follow this story as it unfolds. in the meantime what a wonderful thought that andressen decided to give this unknown a chance at taking a crack at this experiment. we believe more of this ought to happen on X a diamond in the rough. source: https://lnkd.in/efx6hfCg < . >

Who am I ? (No. 311) If you are a movie aficionado, then your might would immediately remember the following -The Jackie Chan action fest with the title 'Who Am I' that was released in 1998. -The German techno-thriller with the title 'Who Am I' that was released in 2014. If your thought process is a tad more sublime, those three words would take you to that realm where you ponder (and agonize) about who you truly are, your purpose, the beginning of and end of it all and the like.... I see this from the second prism but with a little more clarity around it (or at least I think so). I think I am a bricklayer and I dare say we all are. And we lay those bricks primarily to build a path to bridge the chasm between what we desire and what all we are willing to do to get it. And the bricks that help us bridge this chasm are persistence, adaptation, risk-taking, networking and compromise (am using this in the positive sense). And sometimes, we refrain from laying those bricks and instead build a wall to consciously build a boundary between what we desire and what all we are willing to do to get it. This wall too is made of bricks, the bricks of our moral compass, reputation, consequences, self-respect and inner peace. And yet sometimes, we treat one or more of these too as a bridge to move ahead and justify our actions, with oodles of creativity. Whatever be our actions, we are in essence bricklayers, continually reflecting on the tension between our ambitions and our integrity, building paths or walls with the bricks that take form, as we see them at specific points in time. We are bricklayers. We all are. P.S. With the weekend past approaching, I would strongly recommend both the 'Who Am I' movies...worth a watch, for sure.
