Using imported softwood timber in Australian buildings is like shipping ice to Antarctica. Isn't it time for a change? The construction industry has never seemed more exciting. There is a real drive to set sustainability benchmarks. New buildings such as the Atlassian Tower Sydney- The world's tallest hybrid timber tower is one example of this. However most of the timber used in this building will come from imports. This is due to: Australia’s declining softwood plantation estate.  The fact that the mass timber industry in Australia is in its infancy. We push for bamboo plantations within Australia in order to help alleviate these sorts of issues. By growing bamboo locally we can partner with the mass timber industry and provide locally grown products at a much faster rate than timber will ever allow.
