Here’s a quick rundown of the different field types you can use when creating objects in Salesforce: 🔹 Text Fields: Store simple text like names, descriptions, or formatted content. Options include Text, Text Area, and Rich Text. 🔹 Number Fields: Capture numeric values, including decimals, percentages, and currencies, to help track key metrics. 🔹 Date and Time Fields: Log important dates and times, whether it’s just a date or a full date and time entry. 🔹 Picklist Fields: Provide users with dropdown menus of predefined choices, including single or multi-select options. 🔹 Checkbox: Perfect for true/false or yes/no values. 🔹 Email, Phone, and URL: Specialized fields that ensure proper formatting and functionality for emails, phone numbers, and web links. 🔹 Formula: Create calculated fields that automatically update based on a defined formula, pulling data from other fields. 🔹 Relationships: Link objects together with Lookup and Master-Detail relationships to maintain data integrity and create connections between different pieces of information. Data cleanliness. It's so important, but absolutely NOT a fun or sexy topic. But if you're data is dirty, you are wasting time and money. Here are 3 activities to add into your schedule to help keep your data clean: 1. Spot the junk daily. Run Salesforce reports and Marketo smart lists to catch missing emails, invalid state names, or blank lead sources. No excuses—fix it or automate it. 2. Standardize everything. Marketo smart campaigns are your best friend for normalizing country, state, and industry fields. Consistency = accuracy. And it's a heck of a lot easier to categorize and provide useful insights when the data is standardized. 3. Audit your fields.
