Our aim is clear: to offer a comprehensive, data-driven overview of the tech landscape in Belgium, empowering entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, and stakeholders to make informed decisions. Through a blend of data analysis, a survey of 130+ Belgian startup founders, and in-depth interviews with key ecosystem players, we discovered: 📈 Capital invested is on the rise, with 2024 shaping up to be a record-breaking year. 💥 The ecosystem is showing signs of early maturity, and 2024 could see a record year for exits. 🐣 Most of the capital continues to flow into early-stage startups, highlighting the growth potential. 🤝 There’s a solid opportunity to further nurture the emerging ‘mafia’ of entrepreneurs and better align fragmented support structures. 🏆 However, talent scarcity and the current ESOP policy are holding back founders' ability to scale. These insights shed light on the hurdles and possibilities facing the Belgian tech landscape. A truly data-backed report full of relevant insights and propositions for our Belgian Tech scene. As an Executive Search professional in the tech domain, I cannot agree more on the scarcity of senior tech talent. This definitely holds for the start-up/scale-up domain, but also for any other (even big) company that wants to transform into the new. Wanted: Startup founders from the Gothenburg region whose coffee machine looks like this. We need you for a #founderfika! I really miss a weekly gathering of startup founders in Gothenburg. A low barrier meeting, every week, about an hour, no agenda's, no need to give heads up on attendance, just a chat with a cup of coffee with like-minded people. Giving newcomers to the region an entry-point into the ecosystem, and Gothenburg veterans a chance to share why "Väst är Bäst". I think this type of event is a vital part of having a healthy entrepreneurial ecosystem and to my knowledge we're lacking it in Gothenburg. We at #CampXbyVolvoGroup can host the first few and I am hoping others will take it upon themselves to host as well, but I want to do some validation first, so: Please share this message in your network, tag your founder friends from the region, and send me a DM with your contact details if you would like to join.
