Inspired by our studio's rich legacy of creativity and innovation, the Pixar Living Archives is excited to bring a selection of Pixar's creative past directly to your feed. Once a month, we'll spotlight a piece from the Pixar archives. Today we bring you this acrylic on board by Tia W. Kratter (layout by Nat McLaughlin) from A Bug's Life (1998).
My boy Rory and I watched this again recently - fantastic film. Liking the new monthly initiative Team Pixar Animation Studios
The amount of *life* in this image where you can barely see the characters is amazing.
I love this image it was a mural in the cafe. Whenever I would show people around, this was the part when I would say "at Pixar creativity is a team sport". This picture symbolized so much that was good about Pixar.
Love this picture! 😍
Tia Kratter is an absolute treasure...
This is a prime example “inspirational art”. The variation is surfaces plus the translucent grass motiveted the decisions down the production pipeline. Tia Kratter- proper creative legend.
I will never stop loving this particular piece of art. There's so much to see in it.
Wow, this brings back so many childhood memories! I must have watched A Bug's Life a hundred times as a kid, and the characters and worlds you created at Pixar sparked my imagination in ways that still inspire me to animate today. Thank you for sharing this gem from the archives and for being a constant source of nostalgia and joy in my life.
Stunning, before seeing the caption I was reminded of A Bug's Life! I remember the character design of the grasshoppers in this film was terrifying as a kid 😅 And also the water droplet scene had my mind blown. Super cool to see some of the BTS work.
