Common Ground (Movie) (Rebecca Tickell & Josh Tickell) at the Climate Film Festival yesterday got me thinking: Is AgTech's rapid innovations accelerating in the wrong direction? There is a paradox facing the AgTech industry today: as we innovate at incredible speed, many of the practices we're perfecting are the same ones that deplete soil, reduce biodiversity, and compromise long-term sustainability. The tech industry thrives on optimizing systems but, when those systems are flawed, it falls short of its promise to disrupt and advance the common good. The real challenge? Harnessing tech's potential to reimagine and transform, not just optimize. For this, we do need innovation in tech, but not only as an add-on.  We need new models for how we design, build, fund and deploy solutions. It's like cracking open the treasure chest of biowaste, where we dive deep into half a ton of green goodies, searching by hand for those sneaky intruders. And boy, did we hit the jackpot! From batteries over diapers to plastic packaging, we uncovered the full spectrum of non-compostable items, displaying those inert substances into a vibrant rainbow of mis-sorting. Big shoutout to the amazing teams we linked up with at the beautiful digestion and composting facility in Ludwigsburg. It’s not always about software and #AI… sometimes, we need to roll up our sleeves.   Today, our team took a step away from coding and algorithms to spend a day contributing to nature conservation at the NABU Nature Reserve in Münsterland. With shovels and gloves in hand, we supported this incredible project, helping to preserve a unique sand dune landscape and its rich biodiversity.   As a company focused on making supply chains more sustainable through AI, we know that real sustainability goes beyond technology.
