The Central Eastern Europe (CEE) region is rapidly emerging as a bright spot in the European spacetech economy landscape. For the second consecutive year, a dedicated space event has been hosted at the World Economic Forum Three Seas Hub in Davos - home of the 12 EU countries of the Baltic, Adriatic and Black Sea Basins. The caliber of speakers at the "Beyond Borders" panel speaks volumes: Josef Aschbacher, Head of the European Space Agency; Rafal Modrzewski, CEO of Iceye, Europe's leading new space company; Adam Niewinski, Managing Partner of a prominent European spacetech VC fund - OTB & bigest VC in the CEE region; Grzegorz Zwolinski , CEO of SatRev; Daniel Tenney, Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at Lockheed Martin; and ESA astronaut Slawosz Uznanski connecting from the AX3 launch in Cape Canaveral. It's so inspiring to see a blend of experience and innovation with a deep dialogue on the new perspectives in the region ranging from engineering talent pool development, to STEM education, entreprenourship support, role of ESA membership and existing and future spacetech investment opportunities (including through Three Seas Investment Fund and other VC and development funds). I'm also thrilled to see PlanetWatch , a company onboarded to our joint Deutsche Telekom hubraum & European Space Agency - ESA "IoT Space Challenge" make it to the Finals of the prestigious @FoundersGames at 2024 WEF Davos, beating 4500 startups from 150 countries to the Prize Pool of 6M USD. PlanetWatch integrates Copernicus Sentinel 5P space-based air quality (AQ) data with sensor networks, backed by scientifically qualified AQ ground stations, and is underpinned by the Algorand Technologies blockchain protocol for enhanced traceability and revenue sharing.
