🌍 Climate negotiations have just kicked off in Baku, COP29 Azerbaijan, and I’m thrilled to announce that I will be joining the Plant-for-the-Planet Foundation UNFCCC #COP29 Delegation Felix Finkbeiner, Ines Heinbach Jens Waltermann, Jule Schnakenberg,Paulina Sanchez Sagar Aryal! As a youth delegate from Kenya, my motivation for attending COP29 is deeply rooted in advocating for action on loss and damage, a crucial issue affecting the Global South and communities like mine, where climate-induced droughts, floods, unsustainable rains and displacement are harsh, everyday realities. At COP29, I am driven to amplify the stories of those most impacted by climate change and push for tangible, equitable support to make a real difference. I look forward to engaging with leaders, experts, and youth advocates on Nature-based Solutions, climate resilience, adaptation mechanisms, and sustainable funding models. My focus will be on breaking down barriers for youth-led climate action initiatives and securing accessible funding, which is too often out of reach due to restrictive requirements. Personally, I aim to connect with other climate champions, share insights on restoration projects in Kenya as a local climate adaptation solutions, advocate for inclusive, adaptive policies, and learn new ways to strengthen community-driven conservation efforts.
