Another great way to finish the week. I know I keep rattling on about laser welding but today for one of our fibre welding machine customers the proof really was found in the pudding. They have reported an INCREDIBLE 75% reduction in fabrication resource for their first major project. Laser is much faster than MIG, much cooler and leaves no distortion or spatter, so post-processing of their fabrications has been almost COMPLETELY eliminated. Removing the burrs on the mechanical parts is a very important work step.Some of the burrs on the commutator parts are caused by plastic deformation during the cutting process; some are flashes for casting, die forging, etc., and some are scraps for welding extrusion. The existence of burrs will cause the entire mechanical system to malfunction, resulting in reduced reliability and stability.
