I’m excited to share the process behind designing and developing the website for Circular Futures Group. Working with Vivienne Kim has been an incredible experience as we collaborated to bring Matthew C.'s vision for a consultancy specialising in waste, recycling, and circular economy solutions to life. The key objectives for this project were: 1. To create a simplistic, clean design that captures user attention and drives SEO traffic. 2. To highlight Circular Futures Group’s industry expertise, real-world solutions, and social and environmental impact. 3. To use colours and visuals that evoke an environmental focus, aligning with the brand’s boutique and approachable identity. From researching competitors to developing user-friendly designs on Squarespace, every step was guided by the mission to provide flexible and impactful solutions for clients. A special thank you to Matt for trusting us with this project and to Vivienne for her creativity and dedication in the team. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together and look forward to seeing how this platform helps Circular Futures Group make a difference. Live Site : https://lnkd.in/g2YiMnzw

🌏 Much of a product's environmental and social impact can be determined at its design phase. Design for sustainability, accessibility, and inclusiveness by default—there are so many benefits for people, businesses, and the planet! 🌲 Benefits of Sustainable and Circular Design - Resource Efficiency: Minimise waste and reduce the consumption of raw materials and energy by Designing products and systems to be reused, repaired, or recycled - Environmental Impact: Mitigate pollution, decrease greenhouse gas emissions, and contribute to the preservation of ecosystems by designing for durability, reusability, and recyclability - Regulatory Compliance and Market Demand: Meeting the increasing regulation and consumer demand for sustainable products and practices. - Economic Benefits: Create products that have longer lifespans and can be reintroduced into the market through refurbishment or recycling, to create value and new revenue streams through innovative business models. 👬 Benefits of inclusive and accessible design - Wider Reach and Market Potential: Expand your market reach and potential customer base by ensuring that products and services are accessible to a broader audience, including people with diverse abilities and backgrounds. - Enhanced User Experience: By considering the needs of all users, designers can create solutions that are easier to use providing a better overall experience for everyone. - Innovation and Creativity: Addressing the diverse needs of users often requires innovative thinking and creative problem-solving. Inclusive design challenges designers to think outside the box and come up with novel solutions that benefit all users, fostering a culture of innovation within design teams. - Regulatory Compliance and Social Responsibility: Get equipped with the skills to meet increasing regulations for inclusive and ethical products and practices to ensure no one is excluded based on their abilities or circumstances. - And if done authentically, both circular and inclusive solutions can enhance brand reputation and customer loyalty. 🧑🏻💻 Want to learn how to design circular and inclusive by default, and start becoming a life-centred designer? 🌍✨ Designers, it's time to rekindle our commitment to creating a better world! In Victor Papanek's groundbreaking book "Design for the Real World," we are reminded of the power we hold as creators. Here are the key takeaways that continue to inspire and challenge us: 🔹 Social Responsibility: We're called to design with a cause, prioritizing human needs over profits. Our work should address real issues and strive to enhance lives, especially for those less privileged. 🔹 Sustainability: Papanek was a pioneer in advocating for eco-conscious design. Let's honor his legacy by considering the environmental impact of our products from conception to disposal. 🔹 Inclusivity: Design should embrace everyone. Papanek pushed for accessibility and designs that serve diverse populations, including those with disabilities. 🔹 Anti-Consumerism: We must question the cycle of waste in consumer culture. As designers, we have the choice to contribute to a more sustainable and less disposable world. 🔹 Educational Reform: Papanek believed design education should evolve to tackle real-world problems, not just aesthetics. It's a call for curricula that prepare designers to think critically and act ethically. 🔹 Appropriate Technology: Simplicity and functionality should guide our choice of technology, ensuring it fits the context and needs of its users. As the digital landscape expands, the environmental impact of websites is often overlooked. This is something we have been paying far more attention to in recent times. In this article from Creative Review, at the Design for Planet Festival, experts from Hey Low and OPX Studio emphasised the need for sustainable web design. They discussed how even minor optimisations in website design can significantly reduce carbon footprints. OPX's project for the London College of Communication serves as a prime example, showcasing how to balance aesthetic quality with eco-friendly practices. We thoroughly agree that embracing sustainable digital design is crucial not only for the environment but for the longevity of the industry. We've won another Red Dot: Best of the Best design award in 2024 - this time for our sustainable packaging which received the highest distinction for its design quality and creative achievement. “The challenge for the design team was to create a stand-out packaging design that evokes emotion through a brown cardboard box. The mission was to reframe the sustainable cardboard box into something desirable and aspirational,” explains Ella Rudebeck, Design Lead Packaging, Product Line Wellbeing and SDA Design. The result is a new design concept which uses illustrations on boxes to show people of neutral gender and ethnicity in everyday situations. Click the images below to view the different packaging designs. 👇 To learn more about the packaging read here: https://lnkd.in/dytdpYSg #reddot #design #sustainability #packaging
