Our #EarthDay appeal with Big Give is now live! 🎉 Meaning every pound we receive over the next week, will be matched at no extra cost to you. https://lnkd.in/eaRECQkF Our rivers are crisis! Our reliance on single-use plastics is adding unnecessary strain to these already struggling ecosystems, with a shocking 80% of the ocean’s plastic pollution travelling via our rivers 😲 Now more than ever, we need your help to continue our vital campaigning work to help keep our rivers and oceans plastic-free. Recent Marine Conservation Society beach clean data shows more than 480,000 items of litter found on UK beaches - with drinks-related litter one of the most found! By donating to our Earth Day appeal, YOU can do something about this. For ONE WEEK ONLY, every pound will be matched – so your £25 becomes £50 to go towards powering our campaigns like Refill to help keep our rivers and oceans plastic-free.

🎶 On the eighth day of giving, the planet gave to me… eight beaches cleaned! Plastic pollution is a major threat to our environment and our health. Nonprofits are key players in the fight against plastic pollution. They conduct scientific research, advocate for policy changes, and rally volunteer communities across the country and beyond. Their efforts are crucial for protecting our health, the welfare of animals, and the overall well-being of our planet. Did you know that your plastic water bottle is made from fossil fuels? There are easy and innovative ways to pivot to healthier, circular ways of living that protect our health, our kids’ health, our families futures, and this planet that we call home. Your donations through the 12 days of green giving can help these nonprofits advance efforts to reduce plastic waste, protect our oceans and wildlife, and promote sustainable solutions. Be an “earth giver” and make your own gift today, along with a few pivots in your life tomorrow. This July, Let's #CrushPlastic for Our Oceans Plastic pollution is choking our oceans, and majestic creatures like sea turtles are paying the price. Our communities have hand-gathered the largest volume of plastic waste—not through beach clean-ups or ocean-cleaning expeditions. This milestone was achieved with the hands of over 50,000 people, consistently collecting discarded plastic from the environment BEFORE it reaches our ocean or the landfills. They exchange plastic for income and benefits that put food on the table for their families. But here’s the uncomfortable truth: it’s not even a drop in the bucket. We’re still drowning in plastic pollution and poverty. This isn’t just a celebration; it’s a wake-up call. Enough with feel-good initiatives that don’t move the needle. You’re either part of the solution or part of the problem. It’s time for businesses, influencers, and communities to step up and prioritize collective prosperity for both people and the planet. Over 500 businesses have already taken real action to create authentic impact with us. What’s holding you back? 🌍 It’s time to align profit with purpose and make real, measurable impact where it matters most. Ready to join the movement? Our oceans are in crisis. 😱 Plastic Soup: Over 8 million tons of plastic waste enter our oceans each year, creating a "plastic soup" that harms marine life and ecosystems. 🐢🐠 Threat to Food Sources: By 2050, there could be more plastic in the ocean than fish, putting our food sources at risk. 🐟🚫 Climate Change: Plastic pollution contributes to climate change by releasing greenhouse gases and disrupting ocean currents, leading to more extreme weather events. 🌪️🌊 It's time to take action! MD7 is proud to support the Ocean Cleanup Fund in their mission to rid our oceans of plastic pollution. Donate or simply engage with this post to spread the word. Every donation counts! Join us in making a difference for marine life, food security, and a healthier planet. Want to take a small but helpful step towards a cleaner, healthier planet? Read below and then click link to take action. In the US, less than 1 out of 10 plastic products get recycled. Which means that most plastic we use ends up in landfill or is burned. Totally unsustainable and shortsighted. What can business do? Short-term, offset their plastic footprints (for example, Thrive Natural Care is certified Plastic Negative, which means that every Thrive bottle purchased by a customer now pulls two plastic bottles from ocean or land-bound waste.) Longer-term, companies need to push the envelop on packaging, to reduce and eliminate single-use plastic from their products. What can citizens do? First, use and advocate for better recycling in our communities. Second, support good causes that raise awareness and take tangible action to clean up plastic from some of our planet's most remarkable places. This #WorldEnvironmentDay,Thrive Natural Care, Grove Collaborative, and a bunch of great consumer brands are teaming up with rePurpose Global to clean up the Himalayas. We’re helping with plastic waste removal in the inspiring landscapes and communities of the Himalayas, and YOU can too — just like/share/comment on Grove Collaborative‘s latest post (click IG link below) https://lnkd.in/gJbKvhxG
