A Year ago to the day that I ventured down to Rosehill with the sole purpose of getting in, recording a skit and getting out. At that point The Mock Sports had been a weird morph of News, Stats, Score Updates, Memes, Tips and Opinions with very little actual original content. Nick Hyland had told me countless times that as the brand’s social media manager I needed to embrace the less is more approach. I hadn’t listened. At that point we’d been stuck between 1400-1600 followers for 2 years. Once this skit was posted and became our first ever viral video, I realised quite quickly that focusing on original content was the direction we needed to go. Turns out Nick had been right the whole time, sorry mate! In the 365 days since, we have gone from strength to strength and I personally have never been more confident in the content we produce and the direction we are heading. We are closing in on the 5000 follower mark at a rapid pace and we haven’t even hit Spring yet, our busiest time of the year with the Racing Carnival. Upon reflection, I take two lessons from this - 1: Trial and error is crucial to finding your identity as a brand and 2: Always take advice on board, even if you don’t agree with it, cause it could just take you to the next level. #socialmedia #brandgrowth #contentcreation

🏆 The Masters media team have truly out done themselves 🏆 For the last 4 days one of the most prestigious golfing tournaments has taken place - The Masters ⛳. And the media team have been receiving lots of positive feedback for their social media efforts this year! In the run up to the event and throughout their Instagram and Tiktok account was flooded with content designed to improve the following: → Brand awareness → Engagement → Audience growth → Fan experience → Community building → Visibility for sponsors → Ticket and merchandise sales The content they produced was brilliantly tailored to evoke a sense of nostalgia in those who are loyal golf enthusiasts and allowing those who may be less familiar with the sport to be brought up to speed and keep them hooked! But it was one particular video on TikTok that really stood out for me. The video showcased The Masters 2024 winner, Scottie Scheffler, and his caddie moments after his final putt of the tournament. https://lnkd.in/eyc5TxgS 📌Give the video a watch, how did it make you feel? To improve at cue sports, it takes a number of factors to consider. Just hitting balls around the table is not going to provide much improvement or knowledge of what you need to learn. You must be trying to figure out what are your strengths and weaknesses, so that you can start to focus on the areas that need attention. Everything takes time and patience. Remain calm at all times and be prepared to fail sometimes and show improvement at other times. Don’t get ahead of yourself if things are going well. Simply acknowledging things are in the right direction is the best way. Vary your practice and keep challenging yourself to cover the 2 “P’s”. Purpose and Pressure. Always have a purpose when practicing and find ways to put yourself under pressure. This will ensure you are getting the most out of your practice.
