7/10 CEOs worry their employees lack the right skills for the future. But the skills required to do our jobs are expected to change by 65% in the next 6 years (Atvis, 2024) So, even the CEOs who worry now, don’t know what the specific technical skills are that we’ll need to learn. All we know is that learning new skills and learning from experience will be vital in the future. Reflective Practice is an awesome… practice to help you build your learning culture. It’s tricky to do well, but its formula is simple. Next time your team is talking about something that went well, or not so well, try asking the group - what happened, how did it feel and what can we do with that? -- 👋 We're Playgrounded. We offer 1:1 coaching, team workshops, offsite support and contracted group dynamics expertise to help hybrid & remote teams get more done, and have more fun 🎉

A lot of my work right now at Prossimo Global Partners is focused on our Mentor training programs. Without going into specifics, each leverage various tools to help accelerate relationships and bridge one's personal purpose to that of their work. I may be biased, but I find it a very sincere approach to building strong working relationships. I'm also seeing how the skills learned in the mentoring practice can transcend the mentor-mentee relationships to ultimately benefit the entire organization. *Social Begets Social* Even when a mentor program focuses only on high-potentials, the experience of these synchronous and asynchronous meetings teaches these select people new ways to communicate, listen and question that can slowly cascade to other contexts such as team meetings, employee review sessions, and collaborative cross-function work, improving outcomes and attitudes. Those not in the mentor programs benefit through social learning opportunities as they observe those more well versed leveraging the skills and tools regularly. A double win! Mentoring in business settings, as I have learned, is one of the least utilized but most profoundly impactful approaches to employee development, retention and trust-building. It's long term cost is minimal as well, as programs often only require time commitments because the technology needed is most organizations already have; video conferencing, collaborative tech platforms and email. As I write this, I wonder why mentoring is not more of a priority for companies. Given what's of greatest concern for many businesses today, things like turnover, engagement and succession planning - what's holding them back? #Mentoring #SocialLearning #Development #EmployeeEngagement #Retention #SocialByDesign

𝗚𝗲𝗻 𝗭? 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗲𝘀.😉 Sure, Gen Z can seem indifferent at first glance. But.... they're not disconnected, just different. And different might be exactly what your business needs. My experience says, Gen Z is a powerhouse of creativity and adaptability. Gen Z brings: 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘀: They question the norm and challenge “the way it’s always been done.” 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆: They’re digital natives—navigating platforms faster than most onboarding manuals. 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: They live where the trends start, making them ideal for innovation and consumer insights. The question isn’t “Why hire Gen Z?” It’s “How can you unlock their potential?” Because you can’t train them like every other generation. Traditional training doesn’t work for them. Gen Z thrives in experiential, hands-on learning environments. What Works Best for Gen Z? ➡️ 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀 Think less conference room, more open space. Nature-centric or creative getaways where they can brainstorm, bond, and build leadership skills without the usual office buzz. ➡️ 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 Simulations. Role-playing. Hands-on projects. Gen Z thrives when learning feels interactive and practical. Less theory, more doing. ➡️ 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 Intensive, immersive learning that challenges them. Bootcamps help build resilience, sharpen problem-solving, and instill work ethic—fast. 📌 Why This Works: Gen Z values growth, collaboration, and purpose. When you meet them where they learn best, you’re not just hiring talent—you’re unlocking potential. Gen Z isn’t just a workforce — they’re a force for change. And when you train them in ways that engage them, you build future-ready teams with the potential to lead your business into new territories. PS: If you want to build a workplace where every generation thrives, let’s connect. I coach leaders to create mindful, adaptable environments where everyone feels valued.

The "soft" skills myth (Why they're actually hard) Why do we keep calling them "soft skills"? It makes the sound like they’re optional, right? Secondary to “hard” skills. But these skills- things like communication, adaptability, and emotional intelligence - are the real drivers of success in the workplace. In fact, a recent study found that 85% of job success comes from mastering interpersonal skills, while technical skills only account for 15%. https://lnkd.in/evb7vMKU These are essential skills. So, why are they still treated as afterthoughts? Here’s how to change the narrative: ⛔️ Stop calling them "soft." They’re critical competencies, not “nice-to-haves.” 💪🏽 Train for them. Build workshops or coaching programs focused on emotional intelligence and collaboration. 📈 Measure them. Evaluate communication and adaptability the same way you would technical performance. One of my clients, a boutique law firm, revamped their internal training programs to focus on active listening and conflict resolution. The result? A noticeable improvement in team cohesion and overall productivity. What’s one skill you’ve seen make the biggest difference in your team’s success? Let me know below 👇

6 must have skills for every team As we are all needing to come to terms with working remotely, there are 6 skills that all teams need These are the same for Employees, Managers and Leaders in your organisation, but what are you doing to learn and support these? 👍 Technological proficient – It is not OK to say "I'm not IT savvy" any more – you don’t always have help in the building - so what steps are you taking to help with things like Zoom and Microsoft teams - there are lots of ideas out there – how are you getting your team to engage with learning? 👍 People Centricity Nowadays we don’t just see our colleagues at work, but we see them in their homes – just as they see us in ours. We all face different challenges - what needs to change in our approach – timing, screens, backgrounds, cameras, sound, a decent CHAIR 👍 Effective Time management What are you doing to help your team or yourself to be productive but maintain some balance - what works best to get the best productivity and life balance? 👍 Growth mindset How do you develop this - those who have it or are working on it seem to have done better during the change to flexible working - But have you explored:- What it is and how to help your team develop it? 👍 A coaching approach It is too easy to “tell” people what to do - but in any crisis this develops automatons You need to get people to think for themselves How do you develop a Socratic questioning style? How do you do this to drive productivity? 👍 The ability to manage upwards There is a danger people go into their shells when they are flexible working – they stop sharing ideas and ranging and sharing information. You need to help promote the sharing of ideas You need to facilitate contact upwards. How do you do that? If you want to know more... you know where I am and what to do ✅ if the time is not quite right, please think of me next time 😜 Remember, there is always... "At A Crossroads for Managers," a 5* rated team building game in Trainers' Library, has been transformed for remote delivery. 🚀 Managers will delve into challenges that they may encounter or have already navigated, and discuss effective approaches to tackle these obstacles head-on. Does the phrase 'That wasn't what I had planned' ring a bell for you? If so, read on. I've recently come across John Driscoll's Method of Reflection. Also known as the 'What, So What, Now What' model, it's a simple but structured approach to reflection which helps individuals critically analyse and learn from their experiences. It's super simple, (which always gets a big ✅ from me), but the benefits are much broader than that. 👇 1. Structured Reflection Process The method is a clear framework, which makes reflection process more organised and less overwhelming. By breaking it down into three distinct questions, it guides you through a logical progression of thought. 2. Enhanced Learning and Insight It encourages a thorough examination of experiences, bringing a deeper understanding of what happened and why. Reflecting on the implications (So What?) and future actions (Now What?) fosters insightful learning and personal growth. 3. Improved Critical Thinking By critically analysing situations, you can think more deeply about actions and outcomes. Also, by evaluating experiences and considering alternative actions, it enhances problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities. 4. Personal and Professional Development Reflecting on experiences increases self-awareness, highlights strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. 5. Practical Application The "Now What?" phase is where you think about what you would do next time, or what you'll take out of the experience that could impact a future event. 6. Emotional Processing Reflecting on experiences can help you process and understand your emotions, leading to better emotional regulation. 7. Team and Organisational Benefits Collaborative Reflection: When used in team settings, collaborative reflection leads to shared learning and improved team dynamics. A culture of reflection will encourage continuous improvement and innovation. If you find this useful, do let me know! #Reflection #Learning #GrowthMindset #Development #1721Coaching
