🏔 A king, a boulder and a Zen story: Our Chamber’s mission in 2025 🏔 I recently came across a Zen story that resonates with me... It's about a king who noticed his people growing complacent. To teach them a lesson, he placed a massive boulder on the main road, blocking the city’s entrance. As he watched, people approached the boulder, only to give up after little effort. Days passed until a lone peasant came along. Unlike the others, he didn’t walk away. He kept trying until an idea sparked. He found a sturdy branch in the woods and used it as a lever to move the rock. This story is a powerful reminder of how we can lead our communities. Challenges can often seem like obstacles too big to move. It’s easy to turn a blind eye or get stuck in endless debates. Yet, like the peasant, all it takes is a handful of inspired individuals ready to tackle problems with fresh perspectives and a willingness to collaborate…and maybe even compromise. As we gear up for our Annual Luncheon, I’m inspired by this story and its lessons. As a Chamber, we are uniquely positioned to advocate for and support our businesses, while seeking creative solutions for ongoing issues impeding growth in our community. I’m excited about the positive changes we’ll bring in 2025. Let's be the ones who find solutions, leverage our collective strengths and clear the path to progress. Together, we can achieve lasting growth and transformative community building. 🌟 Redefining Success: A Journey Beyond Financial Goals 🌟 In the hustle and bustle of business, we often chase success with our eyes fixed on financial milestones. If wealth were the sole measure of success, my journey is still unfolding. But what if success is about more than just the bottom line? What if it’s about the impact we create, the lives we touch, and the communities we uplift? My businesses have given me the privilege to experience a different kind of success—one rooted in service. I’ve had the honor to be an alumnus of Leadership Rome and Leadership Georgia. I have served as Chairman of the Board for the Rome Floyd Chamber and President of the Board for the Boys & Girls Club of Northwest Georgia. These roles, among others, have shown me that true fulfillment comes from contributing to something greater than ourselves. I’ve also served on the Board of Adjustment for the City of Rome, the Development Authority Board, and worked with Walk a Mile in Her Shoes to fight domestic violence. Being part of the 100 Black Men organization has been a powerful reminder that success is about lifting others as we rise. For those of you, like me, still striving toward your financial goals, remember this: Success isn’t just about the destination. It’s about the journey, the lives you change, and the legacy you build along the way. I am grateful for the opportunities my businesses have provided, not just to succeed in business, but to succeed in making a difference. For all his achievements, Dan Brodsky has remained relatively low-key, especially compared to public-facing contemporaries like Donald Trump and Larry Silverstein. That has so far left the story untold of how he created a kind of aura around The Brodsky Organization name over the past five decades in New York #realestate — using his deep pockets, cunning dealmaking and the right connections to amass the kind of power that money alone can’t buy. Take, for example, Brodsky's role as peacemaker in the power struggle for control of the iconic #Flatiron Building. After months of dealmaking drama, Brodsky came up with a solution that satisfied the needs of the various stakeholders and secured for himself a lead role in converting the landmark into condos. "Dan was the solution," said one person familiar with how Brodsky won the deal, the details of which — told in TRD's April issue for the first time — reveal how he’s operated as one of real estate’s most influential leaders.
