Spontaneously breathing baby… One recent project was to design a Lifecast Body Simulation Ltd baby which could be resuscitated, but would also be seen to breathe spontaneously. As with most solutions the decision was made to keep it simple… It was a bit more complex to seal off the back of the throat when ventilating from the extra tube. ( bottom of manikin) Our incredible R and D team developed this throat block solution for us, along with a seperate tube and simple squeeze system. We aren’t sure how many people would want a manikin that breathes spintaneously and needs resuscitating. But I love it! In the newborn - I like to simulate the respiratory rate needing support - to see how good students are at spotting deterioration.
