𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒐𝒖𝒍 𝑷𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒍 𝒋𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒚… It was back in December that Soul Padel announced itself on the scene – a new padel operator with an ambition to bring the sport to the north west of England. There are stories every day surrounding a new venture in padel, the majority picked up by journalists scanning council planning documents. It’s a skill I know well from my own early days a journalist. While news of a new court / venue is generally positive (there have been some NIMBY stories too) if you’re not putting the story out there, you don’t get to have control over the message or the narrative. Since day one working with Mark Hewlett, we have purposely worked on a PR strategy, plan and messaging. Aside from ensuring we were talking to the padel sector, a main aim was to raise awareness of the Soul Padel brand, Mark and the sport to a wider audience – and this was for a business yet to secure its first location. As of today – more than 25 pieces of coverage have been secured across a range of titles and sectors including start-up media, regional business titles, sports industry titles, property media, lifestyle titles and, of course, padel titles. Throughout this, we have been able to manage the narrative, to get across what Mark and Soul Padel want to say. The collaboration and understanding has been there from the very start. The route has also been strategic from a launch announcement to key board appointments to explaining the ‘land grab’ issues around the sport to partnerships and, latterly, investment stories.
