Hey everyone! I just uploaded my first Development log for my new project, Undead Rail! A horde survival based game set in a post-apocalyptic subway station! In this Log, I review some of the documentation I whipped up, along with establishing the gameplay system and core game loop! Helldivers 2 continues to thrill players with its over-the-top gameplay and humor. It’s currently 5th on SteamDB’s most played chart! It’s a rich mine of player generated content too. I went on TikTok and within 10 minutes saw at least three incredible videos about Helldivers 2 lore, player Machinima and this hilarious short from @stabsgta. When my colleagues and I talk Helldivers 2, our takeaway is that Arrowhead Game Studios set their vision and then proceeded to follow this mantra: Go All The Way Don’t stop short #gamedevs and #gamepublishers. Go all the way and give players more incredible, hilarious and memorable moments like this.

Play is the way... It is only recently that I got to know about #play14, a gathering in an unconference format of participants who have deep interest in serious games and other forms of facilitation-based play. I couldn't make it to the gathering, Conversation card game by Swacardz did courtesy Kavitha Talreja, who introduced it to the participants of the gathering. I was in a serious-game design session yesterday with Ulrike Zeshan, a linguist and serious games designer where we were brainstorming on creating a game on enabling policies and legislations. Wanted to share a project I started just two days ago: a haunted house puzzle game. In this game, you’ll race to solve puzzles, battle monsters, collect coins, and find the key to escape trying to get the best time. Each room loads dynamically as you enter and unloads when you leave. It's a reminder to always stay creative and enjoy the process, even if it's a game that’s just 30 minutes long. Another update of the game? Nope. This time, I wanted to give a shot at making a custom retro post effect — got inspired by some games I’ve played recently. I’ve spent a considerable amount of time figuring out the hows and whys. In the preview, I’m only using this custom effect—no built-in post effects like AO, Bloom, etc. It’s not a perfect effect yet, but I think it’s a cool one! 😄 And I'm working on my game as well and will post an update of it soon!
