This World Humanitarian Day (19.08.24), we reflect on the devastating impact of the significant funding cuts to global humanitarian aid. These cuts have forced many organisations to withdraw their critical services from areas that need them most. At Philoi Global, we address the humanitarian gaps faced by persecuted minorities. We pray and hope that the church will step in to address the humanitarian gaps created by aid cuts Let us stand together in faith and action, ensuring no one is left vulnerable. 🌍🙏 #PhiloiGlobal #Pray #Help #Support #FaithInAction #HumanitarianAid #ChristianOrganisation #HumanitarianDay #19.08.2024

Refugee-led Organizations (RLOs) need your support. Here's why: 1. They are critical first responders, yet underfunded. 2. Only $26.4 million in 2022. Not enough. 3. They are run by refugees themselves, meaning they have a deep understanding of the needs and challenges their communities face. 4. They can overcome cultural and language barriers that larger organizations might struggle with. ️ 5. They're held accountable by their own communities, leading to a strong track record on responsible use of funds. RLOs understand refugee needs firsthand. They are crucial for effective humanitarian response. Yet, misconceptions about risk and capacity cloud their potential. We must shift our perspective: 1. Recognize RLOs' unique insights and abilities. 2. Increase funding, trust, and transparency. 3. Align with the 2016 Grand Bargain's goals for localized aid. Let's champion RLOs for a better humanitarian response system. Learn the critical role RLOs play in refugee communities and how private philanthropy like the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation are prioritizing funding for RLOs and are seeing great results:https://lnkd.in/dfnvsq8i? #RLOs #MeaningfulRefugeeParticipation

Don't miss this thought-provoking interview! Degan Ali ED of Adeso on the Ford Foundation's "#OnWhatMatters" series outlines ways we can #shiftthepower and reinvent the current aid and development system so that it is more just and fair. Some highlights: Why the Current Model Fails Designed for Exploitation: The current system, built by former colonizers, traps many Global South countries in poverty through debt burdens and unfair trade. Treating Symptoms, Not Causes: Traditional aid often addresses immediate needs without tackling the root causes of poverty, creating a cycle of dependence. Decolonization: A Path Forward Shifting Power Dynamics: Degan envisions a future where Global South countries have equal footing, creating their own development strategies and trading fairly. Local Leadership is Key: Decolonization isn't just about money. It's about local communities taking a leading role in development initiatives that address their specific needs. “Imagine a situation where a country like Ghana becomes a donor to a crisis in Louisiana or a crisis in France. ….That’s the kind of world we should be seeing, where there’s mutual solidarity, mutual aid that goes from the south to the north, from the north to the south, the south to the south … not a situation where it’s all one-sided: north to the south.” Degan Ali, #OnWhatMatters, May 2024 Please give it a watch, and let us know what you think! #GlobalDevelopment #DecolonizeAid #CharterforChange #PledgeforChange2030 #RINGOProject Center for Disaster Philanthropy Conrad N.
