I just returned from my first business trip to Japan 🇯🇵 Over the past 8 months, we’ve been working to introduce the Hable One and Hable Easy to Japan, supported by Toyota Mobility Foundation’s “Mobility for All” event. 2 Days of demonstrating the solutions at the Fuji Speedway 🏎️ 1 Day of business meetings in Tokyo with (potential) partners for distribution of the product 5 Days of incredible food, connecting with new people and learning about new cultures With some good results. We have now found our official distribution partner for Hable One products in Japan and created the schedule of product demonstrations for the coming months. After a lot of hours understanding and developing Japanese Braille, next to A LOT of AI-translated Japanese-English meetings, I'm surprised we managed to pull through... This does mark a major step on the journey: with nearly 100 distribution partners in over 20 countries 🌏, we’re learning what it takes to build a global distribution model for low-cost assistive tech. As we are gaining a deeper understanding of this model, it's time to focus on expanding the product range. The goal is to create more affordable assistive technology that makes an impact and can be used by everyone, not just the few % who have access to financial assistance. The demand for SDVs is growing, and fast! Going to events like #EmbeddedWorld is always a good reminder of how many exciting and innovative projects are happening, and literally changing the world we live in. The growth in demand for SDVs is quite an interesting mix between consumer requirements and industry innovation. Consumers are becoming more tech minded and are prioritising features like ADAS and OTA over more traditional mechanical ones. And manufactures are trying to develop vehicles that go beyond current software/hardware capabilities. This mix puts us on course for electronics making up 50% of the conventional vehicle costs, and for hybrid vehicles, it could be as much as 80%! But it is not just industry stats telling us this, we are seeing it for ourselves at Y-Mobility. In just under a year, we have experienced a lot of project growth, which is reflected by our 240% increase in team size. It is always a proud moment to see growth like this and also to be part of something bigger.
