Embarking on the journey to enhance my digital skills has been both challenging and rewarding. I'm excited to share my learning journey as I dive into the world of digital knowledge. Over the past weeks, I've started exploring the fundamentals of various courses such as English Language (IT 1 & 2), Generative AI, Prompt Engineering, Emotional Intelligence, User Interface and User Experience Design, etc. The journey into digital skills has been transformative. It has given me the basic to understanding complex concepts which has contributed to a more comprehensive digital competence. My future goals include deepening my knowledge of users designs and exploring emerging technologies like artificial intelligence. With a solid grasp of foundational skills, I began exploring more advanced digital tools. This included learning about software as well as digital communication platforms. Integrating these tools into my workflow improved my efficiency and organization, demonstrating the importance of choosing the right tools for specific tasks. The learning experience so far has highlighted the importance of continuous education and adaptability in the digital age. Joining online communities to connect with fellow and getting information and experiences from fellow has impacted me as well. I want to specially thank the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Federal Ministry of Communications Innovation and Digital Economy for organizing the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme. I look forward to further developing my skills and applying them in diverse and innovative ways. #My3MTT #3MTTLearningJournal @3MTTNigeria

𝗕𝗨𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗡 𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗔 𝗧𝗢 𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗔𝗡 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗧 - 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟬 Let’s face it—we’ve all experienced that moment of doubt or lack of information when deciding on a tertiary institution. For over 2 million students in Nigeria, this decision isn’t just daunting, it’s life-changing. Yet, many end up in universities that don’t align with their goals, or worse, miss out entirely due to misinformation or lack of guidance. As a developer, I believe technology can do more than build solutions; it can also change lives, which is the reason why I’m using my technical and problem-solving skills to tackle this challenge head-on with MyUni - a platform designed to help students find their best-fit universities based on their goals, preferences, and aspirations. 🌟 Together with the brilliant minds of Flourish Olukotun and Oluwademilade Adelekun, we’re building this platform publicly. Our mission is simple but impactful: empower students with the information and tools they need to make informed decisions and thrive in the universities they choose. This isn’t just all about code or design; it’s about creating a meaningful solution to alleviate the struggles that many students face. Here’s to Part 0 of this journey, a small step towards an impact. #MyUni #BuildingInPublic #ProblemSolving #Development

Weekly Reflection is here again 🎊🎉 Name: Asiya Musa Muhammad Fellow ID: FE/23/24243538 State: Kano State Track: Data Science Problem Identification: A significant challenge I've observed within my ALC is the disparity in foundational course completion. Many fellows have not fully engaged with the online modules, leading to a sense of disorientation during the physical class sessions. This lack of preparedness can hinder their ability to grasp the concepts presented and fully participate in discussions. To address this issue, I propose some possible solutions which are as follows. 1. Individual Responsibility: Prioritize foundational courses: Encourage fellows to make completing their foundational courses a top priority. This will provide a solid foundation for understanding the physical class modules. 2. Active engagement: Advise fellows to actively participate in online discussions, forums, and quizzes to reinforce their learning and identify areas where they may need additional support. 3. Time management: Emphasize the importance of effective time management to balance coursework, work, and other commitments. 4. Study groups: Encourage the formation of study groups where fellows can collaborate, discuss concepts, and clarify any misunderstandings. 5. Mentorship programs: Connect struggling fellows with experienced mentors who can provide guidance, support, and personalized assistance. 6. Resource sharing: Facilitate the sharing of resources, such as notes, past exams, and online tutorials, to help fellows catch up. 7. Regular check-ins: Implement regular check-ins with fellows to monitor their progress and identify areas where they may require assistance. #My3MTT #3MTTWeeklyReflection 3MTT Nigeria Mustapha Umar Maryam Shuaibu Aliyu

Following the ongoing Nigeria Artificial Intelligence Research Scheme (NAIRS) project I am actively working on, I had the pleasure of updating the grant management and my grant supervisor yesterday on the progress thus far, the challenges I am currently facing, and the projected deliverables. This meeting, which was at the instance of the grant management, allowed me not only to express my strong reservations about the deliverables but also to highlight the challenges, especially in securing complete approval and support from the management team of our research universities. So far, we have received full support only from my alma mater, the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA). The critical stakeholders have been very supportive; I wouldn’t want to say it's because I was a former students’ union president, but rather I think that is just how FUTA is wired—they have a knack for innovation and always want to be part of something revolutionary. Other universities have been coming around too, but differing academic calendars have posed a challenge. In this research project, “AI-Based Personalized Intelligent Learning in Education,” I reiterated that it aims to create a level of learning playing field for all students. This project would identify students' unique challenges in understanding particular subjects, and offer tailored explanations, assessment questions, and additional reading materials to help them understand each topic more deeply. We believe that, through this research, artificial intelligence can contribute to improved learning and a more intuitive understanding of courses and topics, which would, in turn, enhance Nigeria’s educational outcomes, especially given the current decline in the standard of education in Nigeria. I also expressed my earlier reservations about the expected deliverables during this meeting. While a publication in a reputable journal would certainly deepen the conversation around AI in the academic community and contribute to Nigeria’s efforts to enhance AI capabilities for socio-economic development, I believe the NAIRS program should go beyond an academic exercise. We’ve had numerous publications from university professors and Ph.D. scholars in Nigeria, but many of these solutions remain on paper, with very few translating into practical solutions. While I intend to meet the publication requirement, I am committed to going further by demonstrating a proof of concept and a prototype #ArtificialIntelligence #Machinelearning #Research

Berinyuy was part of cohort 49, the cohort of the future. Here are some of her reflections on the online training. “I live in Yaounde, Cameroon in a locality called Nkolbisson. One practical way I will use the training is by addressing the environmental and health challenges caused by unregulated quarrying activities in Nkolbisson, Yaoundé. The community faces significant issues such as land degradation, air pollution, and health hazards due to these activities. By leveraging the digital tools and leadership skills acquired from the YALI training, I plan to develop a real-time monitoring system that uses AI to track and report environmental changes and health impacts. This system will provide valuable data to local authorities and community members, enabling them to take informed actions to mitigate these challenges. Furthermore, the education sector in Nkolbisson faces several challenges, including limited access to information and communication technologies (ICTs), inadequate training for teachers, and insufficient educational resources. Many schools in the area struggle with outdated equipment and a lack of digital literacy among both students and educators. To address these issues, I will implement digital literacy programs and provide training for teachers on the effective use of ICTs in the classroom. By integrating AI-powered educational tools into the curriculum, we can enhance the learning experience and provide personalized learning paths for students. This approach will not only improve educational outcomes but also prepare students for the digital age, equipping them with the skills needed to thrive in a technology-driven world.” - Berinyuy Melvine, Cameroun #YALIWestAfrica #YALIALUMNI #leadership #youthempowerment
