Considering the ongoing debate regarding Indica vs sativa. A sliding scale something like what they use on Leafly but more detailed, may be end up being the best option. Most sativas produce a more cerebral, energetic effect but not all. Some are very relaxing. Some Indicas/hash plants also produce the same energetic effect as the sativas though they are more known for calming body which intern calms the mind making a person more contented. Even within the hash plants there are sativa leaning types which is necessary for the overall structure of the plants. The sliding scale could be from 1 to 10. #1 for total couch lock , #5 for a balanced any time effect and #10 for the high energy mind benders. Of course not everyone reacts the same to every variety but the majority do. People don't all react the same to any substance. I believe this would be better than this 40% sativa and 60% Indica system we are doing now. Then there could be 10 varieties on the shelf with basically the same general thc but a different "effect number". Patients/customers would be more likely to buy product sight unseen from a company that gets the scale right.
